The Cerebral Cortex is what separates humans from the rest of the world’s species. Our Cerebral Cortex is larger in size, as well as a much greater amount of convolutions than other species. The Cerebral Cortex is divided up in too four major parts, Frontal Lobe, Parietal Lobe, Occipital Lobe, and the Temporal Lobe. Frontal Lobe located in front directly behind the forehead, it synchronizes motor skills, analytical skills, cognitive skill emotional expression, recall, and judgement. It’s the command center for our individuality and our capability to communicate abstract reflection. It interprets shapes, objects and sentence structure, processes language and mathematic procedure. If the Right Parietal Lobe is damaged a person might get lost in their own home or new places. If the Left Parietal Lobe is damaged they might not be able to understand verbal or written language. They also might drop things.
Occipital Lobe is located in the back of the Cerebral hemisphere. They are the visual regions of the brain that help us make out shapes, odors, and motion around us. Damage to this area can cause visual issues like burst of light, star burst or even blindness.
Temporal Lobes, are locate between the ear and temple on both left and right sides of the brain. They help us differentiate between one odor and another, and one noise and another. They play a role in our short term memory and behavior. The left oversees visual memory and the right oversees verbal memory. Damage to this area can cause hearing issues, outburst, easily upset, oversensitive, to even childlike behavior. Can also cause our speech to come out like jumbled words just randomly thrown together in no order.
