Celebrities Have a Tremendous Influence on the Young, and for That Reason, They Have a Responsibility to Act as Role Models.
With the 24/7 access of media, celebrities have more and more impact on the young. A lot of people think celebrities have a responsibility to act as role models. However, I disagree with this opion. There are many other ways to find role models for young people. Plus, celebrities become famous because they can sing, dance, act, or they are super good at something. But celebrities are human beings too. Like everyone else, celebrities make mistakes too.
People think celebrities should act as role models because celebrities choose to live in a way to put themselves in front of the public so that a lot of people will pay attention to them. It is obvious true that the young people are learning from the celebrities about what to do and how to do. But young people are surrounded by other grown-ups such as parents, friends, relatives, and teachers. In the way of contact with all others, the young can set their role models. Also there are so many books, articles and movies about famous people who are not close to us, but kids can still learn value, passion, dream and life. Thus celebrities are not necessarily to be pushed as role models.
Celebrities become famous because they are better than other in some ways. But it doesn’t mean that celebrities have to live in a role model life. Everyone makes mistakes, including celebrities. But when celebrities get wrong on one thing, they are easily put in front of the public since they get attention all the time. It is not fair to blame celebrities just because people think they should be role models. Take the example of Britney Spear, young people are so fascinated by her songs and dances. But when it comes to love and marriage, she is unluckily on a wrong path. Many girls make same kind mistakes and they learn from lessons. We cannot expect Britney to be a role model then blame her on bad experience.
In a word, celebrities have huge influence on the young. But celebrities do not have a responsibility to be role

On the other hand, there are far too many celebrities who really are trying to sabotage the younger generation. For example, Miley Cyrus was a role model for teens and even young children when she was a young singer/ actress. Now she is nowhere near a suitable role model for our next generation. American culture has been shaped and influence by visual entertainment in so many ways. Celebrities influence our society every day. In this society celebrities have a large impact on people life. From cars to fashion trends, the way they live, their attractiveness of a celebrity lifestyle, can influence a person behavior and their beliefs. Celebrities even have this weight loss thing going on, as if it’s not ok to be overweight. This often starts at an early age in a kid’s life. My oldest niece is 10 years old and she wants to be like ever young star she sees on TV. She always tells me she can’t eat too much because she doesn’t want to gain too much weight. It’s crazy because she actually sits at the table and pretends as if she isn’t really hungry. She chooses to imitate Hannah Montana. She love her she look up to her as an idol. As a child I looked up to celebrities because they all had big money. Any celebrity you know has a nice car, house, and job. Jennifer Hudson has this commercial for weight watcher where it shows how much weight she has loss. It has gotten me to the point where I want to try losing some weight. The way the celebrities live make you want more in life. I want to make enough money so I can put my boys through college and live comfortable lives were I want have to work all my life. Celebrities influence society in a good and bad way it all depends on how you were raise and were you want to go in life. Like my mother always told her girls “It’s not where you come from in life it were you want to go in life”. In some ways it influences children in a bad way, when they have different movies of artists acting out in a ghetto movie. Some artist plays the dope dealer or the gang banger in a movie. My son love movies like that for some odd reason this type of action gets their attentions. Every time I see him looking at a gangster movie I tell him to turn the TV and put on some cartoon. He…

Celebrities are the role models of many, especially younger aged people. They are idolized and copied. Their actions have some of the biggest influences on our generation, mostly because of the hype created by the media. Their actions are constantly being talked about in the media, and to society's growing youth, this has caused a great problem. They do outrageous things and are often involved in scandals. Their lifestyles themselves are often one big scandal. They are thought of as god-like, so what they do must not be wrong. They are famous, so they are always right; they have to be. This is the perception of American citizens. They think it is okay to imitate celebrities from what they wear to the lives they live, because they are of higher class. They are the role models, even though they are corrupting the morals of people. Especially now with programs such as MTV, celebrities are being exposed everyday, and these innocent children and teens are being forced images and guidelines to follow in order to be like their favorite celebrity. This is a danger to society. It changes and corrupts everyone's morals.…

Behaviourism is a theory of psychology that was dominant between 1920s and 1950s. It is a theory of learning that is concerned about behaviour that can be observed and measured scientifically rather than being shaped by innate mental states such as thinking, knowing, feeling and biological processes such as hormones. Two major influences on behavioural psychology today are B.F. Skinner and Albert Bandura. Skinner's theory of learning was called "Operant Conditioning" or sometimes known as instrumental conditioning and it is basically a method of learning that uses rewards and punishments to shape or change behaviour by the use if positive or negative reinforcement. Every type of behaviour or action produces a consequence.…

As we all heard our favorite actress Reese Witherspoon was arrested in the peach city of Atlanta, Georgia. For those who don’t know who she is she stared in the movie “Legally Blonde.” She was the good girl of Holy wood until that night. She used those cocky words “ Do you know who I am”, now normally you hear those words in the movie, but this is reality. My topic is “ Should celebrities or professional athletes be viewed as role models”. I said they shouldn’t be viewed as role models because it seems like the time you say someone is your role model the next couple of days they are being arrested for something. For example, most young boys and girls who have dreams of playing basketball look at Kobe Bryant as a role model, but little did they know he was arrested in 2003 sexual battery charges. Of course these charges didn’t interfere with Kobe’s talent, but it kind of interfered with his image as a professional basketball player. And of course we can’t forget about the young Lindsey lohan. She was known for her role in “ freaky Friday” and guest starred in the comedy 2 in a half men. Most of her friends didn’t see her as trouble, but she was. She was arrested for stealing , D.U.I , and drug use. She has recently gone into rehab to fix her ways. These are a few examples of why MOST celebrities shouldn’t be viewed as role models. Please don’t mix my words up because I’m not saying that all celebrities aren’t good role models.…

Are today's superstars really role models for today's youth? I think they are! So many people in the entertainment business set great examples for our youth to strive for the best and most out of life. Take musicians they really come through in times of need. Take this past few weeks with the tragedies in New York City and Washington D. C they have helped organize relief funds and benefit concerts for the families who lost their loved ones. They went to the scenes and helped out by passing out food and water. This I think sets a good positive outlook for today's youth. It shows that not everything is about glamour and that these superstars are affected by this as well and everyone needs to lend a hand.…

You always read something new about the hottest celebrity every week, it's always something bad. They either got arrested, is pregnant, or is caught up in some sort of sex scandal. Eventually, young children and teens read tabloids and watch the news and see their celebrity "role models" doing one of those things. Children with no common sense would go out and try to be like them. No one actually wants to be someone who has done something great. Think about it, everyone wants to be like Paris Hilton or Lindsey Lohan and no one wants to be Amelia Earheart or Hilary Clinton. I'm obviously against celebrities as role models.…

Celebrities can be appropriate role models for young people because most young people look up to people on TV, magazines, and singers and rappers they hear on the radio and young people will dream to be just like them. This sometimes is ok if the celebrity is setting positive examples and goals for young people. A good role model for young adults will be someone who has went to college and has a degree or someone who positive, humble and successful. Someone who is a positive celebrity role model is Gabrielle Union an actress who has a degree in sociology at UCLA, while earning extra academic credits at the Judith Fontaine Modeling and Talent Agency to maintain her acting career. Is Fame Good Or Bad?

    • 522 Words

Phenomenom of fame is widespread around the world. Being famous today is not the same as it was 50-100 years ago. Andy Warhol once said : In the future everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame. Well, in my opinion, that time has come. People from all around the world are trying to get their way out there on the stage. It has become easy to acquire fame, but difficult to keep it. People get famous for doing nothing and the ones who want to become famous don't have many obstacles on their way. They can just apply on a reality show and soon their names will be on the tops of „the most searched“ lists on Google and Yahoo, and not to mention the yellow press. Little girls and boys from all around the world are, when asked what do they want to be when they grow up, usually answering that they want to be famous. Fame has lost its value. Celebrities with or without justified reasons to be famous are followed by a bunch of paparazzi each day. They are getting interviewed and photographed for worthless magazines intended for masses. Their private lives become a matter of abstraction and are endangered. As for those whose fame is a result of hard work, talent, high IQ or great achievements, their fame is well-earned. Such are, for example, great writers, mathematicians and artists. They are usually the ones who are, no matter how good they are at what they do, less famous than the ones who deserve it less. That is good because they don't need to sacrifice their private lives, they have their freedom of expression + they make a lot of money.…
