Menards Inc. customer base is from low, middle and upper income shoppers. Customers shop at Menards because of low prices and excellent advertising schemes. Menards prices give the Company a competitive advantage over Home Depot and Lowes. They have employees in each market to shop at Home Depot and Lowes to make sure Menards is the lowest price in that market. Menards advertising scheme is to keep the song, “You save big money when you shop Menards,” alive in the customers mind. The Company remodeled their stores with lower shelving, added lighting, more displays and expanded the aisles in order to accommodate the women shopper. Then Menards, Inc. upped its advertising costs to gain more female shoppers and boost customer satisfaction. I use to work for JC Penney's a few years back. JC Penney's was definitely affected by the technology/digital age. They were pretty well know for their "catalog" department. Of course, the internet took care of people needing to go into the stores to place catalog orders, so JCP had to shut down their catalog departments. It wasn't doing well there for a while, the look was "old school". Macy's at the time was coming in taking over Kaufman 's in the malls, putting the pressure on JCP. JC Penney's had to re-model a bunch of their stories, to keep up with the "new" modern look.…

In my opinion, the different factors of the two retailers are: The Bay is very Canadian based, not just because it started in Canada but because even their window displays are reflective to a Canadian theme, where as Holt Renfrew is known for being a high end retailer selling brands and products that are available and sold in other retail stores. The Bay has added over 250 new brands and 90% of which are exclusive to the Bay in Canada. Another factor that is different between the two retailers is their pricing. Holt Renfrew is designed for people with lavish lifestyles and an eye for expensive designer clothing where as The Bay ranges from all price points. The Bay has style and affordable merchandise. Also the customer service you find at both retailers are very different. When going into Holt Renfrew, your getting the whole shopping experience. Employees almost tend to smother you making sure everything you need is at there service where the Bay is more low…

Through these studies, Wal-Mart also realized that customer satisfaction level greatly influenced customer loyalty in China.
