CASE IV 1. How would you rate President George V.Bush on the four characteristics outlined at the beginning of the case? How would you contrast his reaction to Hurricane Katrina with his reaction to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001? What do you think his handling of these two events says about his leadership?
Behind Bush's strong, proud appearance, there is a much tender, sensitive, sentimental, feeling person. He is probably much shyer and more private than anyone would realize from his initial impression.
He is primarily emotional and his views are often dominated by his feelings and by his own personal, subjective experiences, rather than reason, logic, or abstract principles. It is difficult for him to judge situations in a fair, objective manner for his personal sympathies and loyalties usually enter in.
Not only have me, most of the authors had rate below average to Bush.
Eight months into Bush's first term as president, the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks occurred. In response, Bush announced the War on Terror, an international military campaign which included the war in Afghanistan launched in 2001 and the war in Iraq launched in 2003. In addition to national security issues, Bush also promoted policies on the economy, health care, education, and social security reform. He signed into law broad tax cuts, the PATRIOT Act, the No Child Left Behind Act, the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, and Medicare prescription drug benefits for seniors. His tenure saw national debates on immigration, Social Security, electronic surveillance, and enhanced interrogation techniques. He announced the U.S. would not implement the Kyoto Protocol on global warming, which had been signed by the previous administration but never ratified by the Senate 2. Do you think leaders in other contexts (business, sports, and religious) exhibit the same qualities of great or near-great U.S. presidents?
Well in some cases I think so.in some ways.... They have

From 2000 to 2008 I was eight to sixteen. Meaning, for the better part of George W Bush’s presidency, I was in too young to fully understand and appreciate everything about politics, like policies or the potential ramification of certain bills. Despite this, I remember liking President Bush. I would become annoyed when news anchors of channels like CNN would criticize him, even without completely understanding the topics. Even now that I’m more involved and have a better understanding politics, I would say I disagree with a good number of President Bush’s policies, but, I still wouldn’t say I dislike him. I still think of him as a kind and honest person. Segment 8 talks a bit about the child like nature of President…

George Bush’s book, Decision Points, is a memoir of his experiences and decisions he made throughout his presidency. Bush chooses to highlight the most challenging and controversial issues in his presidency, and tries to shed some light on the events. Bush lays out two goals he wanted to accomplish in the book; the first being that he wants to “paint a picture of what it was like to serve as president for eight consequential years.” Secondly, he wants to “give readers a perspective on decision making in a complex environment.” He hopes that one day, Decision Points will be used as a historical resource for this time period, but for now, he hopes that it will help to clarify some questions or clear up controversy left in the wake of his presidency.…

Behavioral chaining is a complex behavior that consists of many behaviors happening all together. The chain establishes all the steps in a procedure and list them so all the instructors are using the same information. Chaining provides a means of linking several discrete behaviors to a more complex series of responses, and are usually established after observing the steps of the event several times and work well when trying to teach self-help skills. The instructor should verbalize each step in the chain as it is being completed, and should be followed by praise for a job well done (1). Simply saying, behavioral chaining is breaking a task or job down into smaller steps.…

The jury in a sexual harassment suit brought by a former high-ranking New York Knicks basketball team executive recently awarded her more than $11 million in punitive damages. They did so after hearing testimony during what the New York Times called a “sordid four-week trial”. Officials of Madison Square Garden (which owns the Knicks) said they would appeal the verdict. However, even if they were to win on appeal (which one University of Richmond Law School professor said was unlikely), the case still exposed the organization and its managers to a great deal of unfavorable publicity.…
