CAREER PLAN BUILDING ACTIVICTY
The Career Plan Builder Assessment revealed a surprising result. Humbly, I have enrolled into the Masters of Business Administration program. However, the career plan builder suggests that I would advance in the field of social services. Nevertheless, I should not deny myself the truth because. I currently have a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. Unfortunately, I may need to change my major to what my first intuition lead me to, a Masters of Social Work.
I earned my Bachelors of Art in Sociology in three years. While attending Lane College, I quickly decided to give up my summer breaks. Shockingly, I enrolled in each summer quarter and took the maximum load of classes available towards my major. This guaranteed a fast track completion of my coursework needed to graduate within three years, instead of four.
Throughout my educational career, I have challenged myself and enrolled in academic programs that would prepare me for the healthcare industry. In January 2008, I researched the demand for jobs with a Sociology degree. I read several articles and talked to a few guidance counselors. Consequently, I didn’t know that it would take two years before I would actually get a job offer in my field of study. I have an interview at Jackson-Madison county Hospital for the Intensive Focus Specialist. This position is offered through their affiliate, Pathways Behavioral Health Services. So, I have to meet with Ms. Janice Shipman and bring my resume, college transcripts, and degree. Then, I will have to meet with Ms. Carolyn Husley, so she can determine if I will be a great candidate for that position.
Graciously, I worked in entry-level healthcare positions since 1998. Also, I would perform other skills such as cashiering, waitressing, and housekeeping. This prevented me from becoming burnt-out of performing duties of being a Certified Nurse Assistant. I always knew that

Hello Dr. Aaron Oberman and fellow classmates. I’m excited to be taken this course because I’m almost at the finish line of completing my degree. I have been working in social services for almost 15 years helping adults meeting their needs while aiming at becoming self-sufficient. I enjoy my job, but I’m burned out, meaning my job no longer brings me the same satisfactions as it did 15 years ago. I reevaluated my life giving consideration to my age, family and happiness and decided it was time for a career change. As an undergrad student, I recall an instructor telling us in life most people will have a job and a career. Social Services is currently my job and school counseling will be my career. With age I have learned helping others…

After a while, I realized this was a difficult field to have a real influence in and I might better achieve my desire by doing something more practical and hands on resulting in me looking towards…

I have been seeking a college degree since I left high school in 2002. It has been a long road for me since there were some obstacles and challenges that hindered me from finishing college in a timely manner. When I first entered college I wasn’t really ready, therefore I skipped classes here and there and eventually stopped going all together; a part of me wished that I would have taken a small break after high school before starting college since I barely passed my senior year of school. I was just not ready to start going back to school again, but I did to please my parents, that’s the first and biggest mistake I have made since I first started college.…

I really should not have been surprised that I would finally choose Social Work as my major, I have been surrounded by social workers and their values for the majority of my life. While some of these have not been the most ideal role models, the ones who are really cut out for the job radiate passion. Both of my parents worked in helping professions. My dad was a special education teacher for those with behavioral problems and those who had intellectual disabilities. My mom worked at Bryce Hospital and then she transferred to W.D. Partlow Developmental Center. As a child I always swore up and down that I wanted to do something to help people. For the longest time I remember saying I wanted to be either a veterinarian, painter, a magician, or…
