Career Fair Research Paper
Getting to go to the career fair was a really good opportunity for me to practice talking to employers. This was an easier way to talk with people about job positions because I wasn’t always alone when I was talking to them. So beginning with this job fair will help me when I have to go one on one with an employer trying to get a job because I have had experience. The first place I went to was Jimmy Johns. I learned that they will hire anyone looking for a job because if you are old enough you can cut meat, but if you're not old enough you can just make sandwiches. I also learned that you have to be eighteen to drive the take out car. They have flexible hours for us college students and will work with us on what fits best for our schedule. They are in need of refs for the games that they host there. They are also looking for people to work the desk and people to clean around the building. All the jobs there besides reffing will get you a free membership at the YMCA on top of your paycheck. The last place I went to was a nursing home. There was a lady there who said they are looking for male workers. They have a lot of females, and she said she would like to see more males get involved at the nursing home and visit with the elderly. Overall, this was a good experience for me to get some practice talking with others face to face. I enjoyed it and really liked how the people there were very nice and willing to answer any of the questions I had for them. Most of these jobs would be part time jobs, which would help me get some work experience and still get my school work done. The work experience is good so when I am applying for a full time job, my job history on my resume will have more than just one job that I have
