Business Plan Request

Leslie Marion CEO of JCW Inc. has identified she will need $125,850 to open a Reference School Center in Houston, Texas. The funds will cover the purchase and installation of the equipment and machinery, leasehold improvements, inventory, office equipment, and working capital to start the business. Leslie Marion will contribute $20,000 to the project from personal funds. The remainder of $105,850 is requested to be a SBA loan at 6.00% interest amortized over 5 years. The loan is to be secured by the equipment, and inventory, as well as the personal guarantee of Leslie Marion.

JCW is a company investing in educational field for a learning center that caters to families with children who needs academic support. The Reference School Center at Houston will be a very attractive school for those who need special attention on preschool through high school difficulties. The program is based on the brain research that has accumulated in the last decade. This research suggests that stimulating the mind with mental exercise may cause brain cells, called neurons, to branch widely. This branching causes millions of additional connections between brain cells. Studies demonstrate that our brains develop throughout our lives and that they are constantly being modified and that training and practice can stimulate brain development in targeted areas. This is known as neuroplasticity. JCW company based on neuroplasticity studies created a special program to help the students to learn more from their works and solv their difficulties on memorization and getting knowledgement. We believe in our success and in our investment in the educational

Barbara showed that the brain might be exercised as though it were a muscle and that underlying learning disorders thought to be permanent could be changed. This is just one of the many case studies that support the theory of neuroplasticity. Dr Norman Doidge goes on to show in a similar case how a man who tested in the lowest percentile in math as a child became a math genius and how a woman who could not stand due to a rare disability was cured through a cortical implant. Because neuroplasticity is such a new and still developing scientific discovery it is slow to become mainstream and therefore not mentioned in our course text. Still, many of the physical and cognitive developments in adolescents we learned in class apply well to Dr. Doidge’s scientific position that our brain is plastic. The psychoanalytic theories of Vygotsky come to mind in reading through “The Brain That Changes Itself”. In Vygotsky’s case the idea that culture and social interaction guide cognitive development in children is a major themein neuroplasticity. The amount of interactions and or experiences our brain gathers strengthens neuron connections in areas of our brains, therefore creating a reciprocal relationship. Neuron pruning or synaptic pruningacts on Vygotsky’s…

I have realized that there is not just one key concept that works for me. In fact I am sure that is a combination of all of them that will make me a better candidate for the business world. The two that I will use the most will have to be Unit 2, Manage your Time and Stress, and Unit 7, Goals and Planning. By learning how to manage my time and stress better will allow me to become a better part of the business community. In this manner by reducing my stress will allow me to better focus on the important aspects that need my attention. Learning how to manage my time came from the help of my family by allowing me to have time to myself to focus on my studies every day. Another great help has been the proper use my daily planner. It has been a great contribution to my success in this class. I will be using my planner for all my classes and I am also using it for work. This is a great course for me because it is the first class I have taken since graduating high school 15 years ago. The things that I learned in Unit 6, Academic Writing, will be great use for my next class which is Writing Composition. I will be taking what I have learned from this course and apply it to my next, and so on and so on. From Unit 7 came setting forth my short term and long term goals. I learned how to use the S.M.A.R.T. goal planning technique. I learned that using a series of short term goals helps me to achieve my long term goal. This works for me because if I can see progress and it is easier for me to stay on track and achieve the long term goal. So many times I have set myself a goal and never accomplished it because I could not see the progress and lost interest. There were a lot of other units that will come in use during the rest of my tenure here at Kaplan University, everything from critical thinking and research to scheduling and conducting an interview. I loved the exercises that…

While reading the first two chapters of Eric Jensen’s Teaching with the Brain in Mind I was shocked by the complexity of the brain. Albeit our brain is powerful and amazing, it is surprisingly fragile. The environment around our brain has a tremendous impact on our brain’s development especially during childhood when the brain is developing (Jenson, 2005, pg 21).…

Every day teachers struggle to find effective tools for helping children use their brains to their greatest capacity. In a sense, both groups are focusing on different aspects of the same issues. It seems logical that science might offer some clues to guide educators -- and that educators might ask questions that suggest fruitful areas for scientific inquiry. Oddly, discourse between the two groups has been virtually nonexistent. Neuroscience has provided fascinating glimpses into the brain's development and function. Scientists now believe the structures that control perception; action and cognition develop at the same time -- not sequentially, as was previously believed. What is clear, though, is that early stimulation helps a child develop. At the same time, while much of the brain's basic equipment is in place at birth and its neural connections continue to form during the first few years of life, a great deal of plasticity exists in its cognitive and intellectual development. Such findings suggest that an enriched home and school environment can help make the most of each child's mental capacities. This business plan is to open a door for young adults that want to learn a trade and earn their way in life. Not all high school aged students are eager to go onto a college or a university and this can be for many reasons: perhaps they are not ready to leave home; cannot afford; they are academically challenged; not sure what they want to major in; the list can go on and on. My wish for these young adults is for them to explore what their capabilities are through learning a trade. This trade school is the only one of its kind in this county, we want to offer a variety of skill sets to the students without them having to travel far or live elsewhere. We feel that instead of the undue stress that can wreak havoc on these young adults and their families as to what to do after high school if they are not ready to attend an academic college or university, why not offer them an option of a skill that will enable them to make money and be a prelude to an academic school. Currently, what I am seeing with these young adults that are stuck on what do to with their lives, is a huge increase in drug use, crime and horrifically death.…

    Early Cognitive Deveopment

“Brain is wider than the sky; brain is deeper than the sea”, says the narrator in the video, Secret Life of the Brain. Flexible and adaptable, child’s brain has twice as many neuron connections as that of the adolescence. The environmental influence plays a huge role in the early intellectual development. For instance, certain cadence or rhyme of words stimulates the auditory sensor of a fetal. Such mechanism has strong correlation to a child’s long-term memory derived during the prenatal stage. Psychologist further emphasizes the significance of the early development, assuming that the first one to three years are pivotal period in a child’s mental development because of the rapid growth of brain synapses. With such theory, believers have suggested infants to have abundant amount of mental stimulations and critical experiences to enrich child’s mental capacity. This idea of producing a “baby genius” has exaggerated and oversimplified the concept of early cognitive development because the brain grows continually in all throughout the childhood and the synapse develops even into the later years (Tavris, Carole.). The early cognitive development is worthy of discussion because of its overarching influences in an individual’s life. The cognitive development is a complex concept which becomes evident through the development of emerging cognitive behavior, language, and higher cognitive function.…
