Breaking the Habit

Product, a good or service that most closely meets the requirement of a particular market and yields enough profit to justify its continued existence1. Humans are products; a) of a particular culture in a determined community and society; b) of an equal educational system opportunity; c) of his financial success or failure; d) of his dreams and expectations; e) of his preconception of freedom. The choices made on daily life are not choices chosen, but choices induced by values deepen rooted in the subconscious; f) of his instincts for survival, safety and social interaction. Values closely attached to one’s family, educational and cultural backgrounds.

Deep plunged in history lays the worlds patterns for society cultural behavior. Society shifted from Hunters and Gathers to Pastoralists and Sedentary based on the survival needs; from Matriarchal to Patriarchal, based on the warfare needs; from small cities to complex civilizations based on production versus alimentation needs; and among the many creatures the male figure became known as the strongest and fittest to the challenge of a world in constant turmoil. In these complex societies along the years a model has been established; set as the civilized and most appropriate one, until the next civilization take over another through war and reestablished their living culture. An imperialism based on the rationalization perspective of a better race. An assumption that helped shaping not only the ancient world by uncountable colonization murders, a ruling of fear and inequality in the name of progress. Even nowadays where diplomacy over placed the turmoil’s of the ancient world, the male figure is still a myth of power, dominance, wit, wisdom and safety, not leaving room for feeling. Any expression of emotions is a “weakness”. According to Michael Kimmel a man should live by the “Guys’ Code”2, a
