This is the reason why the older generation frowns upon and show less favorable inclination to the younger generation’s present lifestyle. It is very undesirable for them that our generation of Filipino-Chinese yield towards integration.…

Still, if Tan had always been reticent about telling the Jollibee story beyond his immediate circle of friends and acquaintances, he had been equally reticent-if not more so-about revealing his personal history to the outside world. This reticence comes from humility. Unlike many corporate leaders who trace their lineage to wealthy Chinese clans, and who had studied in the more prestigious schools, Tan had comparably very humble beginnings, with his family exactly mirroring the stark circumstances in which the early Chinese immigrants found themselves in Manila. His father had been an immigrant cook in Binondo’s Seng Guan Buddhist Temple on Narra Street before he opened a small Chinese restaurant in Davao City, where Tan and his siblings helped clean tables and get water to customers.…

This paper explored some published articles from the online (Internet) and from the offline (non-Internet). This paper conveys research about some Filipinos’ negative traits like crab mentality and its behavior in competition. The Urban Dictionary (2002) defined crab mentality as “Crabs in a bucket can easily escape from the buck one at a time, but instead of doing that they pull each other down whenever one rises to the top – thus insuring their collective demise.” Crab mentality is best describe by this phrase “If I can’t have it, neither can you.” In some articles crab mentality is differently defined but it will give you the same idea to what crab mentality is.…
