Something’s Rotten in Denmark
Has your uncle ever married your mom a month after your dad dies? Well for Hamilton Prince it has because he has to live with that everyday of his life. The title of the book I read is Something Rotten by Alan Gratz.
This book has five main characters. The characters consist of Horatio Wilkes, Hamilton Prince, Trudy Prince, Claude Prince, and Olivia Mendelsohn. This story takes place in Denmark Tennessee, in the twenty-first century. First Horatio comes down to Denmark to stay with his friend Hamilton for the summer. Then they find Olivia Mendelsohn protesting about their polluted river from the Hamilton’s family paper plant. Next they are given a video that says Hamilton’s father was murdered. After that they both start questioning everyone while two of Hamilton’s old middle school buddies come down and play his video games drink all his soda. Then Hamilton shoots Olivia’s dad thinking it Claude while Hamilton’s drunk. Next the family realizes he has a drinking problem and his two old middle school buddies drive Hamilton to a clinic to help teen alcoholics. Next Horatio and Olivia get on the news because Olivia drinks some of the river water and becomes very sick and sent to the hospital. Then Horatio calls the clinic to see when he can visit Hamilton but they say know one ever signed Hamilton up for the clinic in the first place. Then Horatio assumes the two old middle school friends are paid to kill Hamilton. Next Horatio finds Hamilton and they solve the case about Claude really killing Hamilton’s father.
My opinion on this book is that it always keeps you on the edge of your seat with many plot twists, and a sad but exiting tone in the story. I hold this opinion because there are many exiting events in the story and you can never expect when they happen. All in all this was a great story and I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys fast paced books and one

To be quite honest I just thought the book was just okay, because it does not have much of a storyline even though their were short stories in every chapter. Sometimes the book did make me want to fall asleep because some of the chapters were very boring and some were exciting. I do connect with the character of the novel Surviving The Extremes because he was just a regular doctor working in a hospital and decided he was done working in a hospital and wanted to go explore like I would like to do. My favorite part of the book is probably the High Seas story because it is about sailing, which I love to do. The downside to that chapter is that the boat capsizes and the people have to get in a life raft which is small and cramped. I would recommend this book to a classmate even though I think it is just okay because it's an adventurous-action book which a lot of people like. An action, adventurer, and survivalist type reader would like this novel because it talks about how multiple people have survived in harsh environments around the…

The idea of creating such a peculiar story is definitely brilliant and extraordinary. Moreover, the story is well-developed and events are put in a proper order thus the tension rises gradually, and it is impossible to get bored and eventually put the book down. A great advantage of the novel are comprehensive descriptions which perfectly depict the world that the author has created. Nevertheless, some of the depictions are hard-hitting since they contain violence and brutal scenes of deaths which some may deem as too cruel and detailed, especially for the young readers. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning, that this novel is not just a typical page-turner since Suzanne Collins raises serious subjects such as political issues, devaluation of human life and social injustices.…
