Summary Of Sharon M. Draper's Tears Of A Tiger
This is a Sharon M. Draper novel called Tears of a Tiger about a group of high school basketball players at Hazelwood High that just took a big win, and decided to celebrate with a few beers. They end up getting on the road after they’ve been drinking and crash into a fiery abyss. Everyone ended up making it out except one of the guys that got stuck and was killed- Robert Washington the most talented and gifted of the group. Andy Jackson was the designated driver who had also been drinking. After the crash, the Hazelwood community struggles to handle Rob’s death, especially his close friends and family.
Andy Jackson, a fun and loving basketball player who was very close to Rob was actually the driver that caused the car crash and killed Rob.

As he fades away from his friends and family he starts to slip further and further into depression. One night when Andy tries to fall asleep, Robert comes into his dreams and tells him it is all his fault, but he forgives him for everything. Andy starts to contemplate suicide and can’t get a hold of his psychologist. Later Andy grabs his dad’s rifle and takes his own life. The theme of this story is that in life, the right choice is not always the easy choice, and small mistakes can affect not only you, but also other’s lives. Personally, I learned that it is always best to make the right decision because you never know the outcome or future events. Life is short.
I liked this novel very much because it shows how precious life is, and that drinking and driving is NEVER a good idea. The story makes me realize that with maturity, comes difficult choices, and you must always be wise. Things like this happen every day and people always think, “Oh it won’t happen to me,” but you never know. I would recommend this book to my friends because I think the story line would influence their choices greatly. I think it would give them a better perspective on making good

From its use of symbolism to the life lesson. Jeannette Walls told her story in a unique way and it made me feel different emotion. After reading about what Jeannette and her siblings had to go through, made me think about my life. Personally, it made me grateful for having a family that provides me a shelter and treats me well. Of course, we all have ups and downs, but it just so hard to believe what she went through. And how she manages to stay strong and positive, when others can easily give up. I highly recommend this book to everyone, as if it can change your perspective on…

I like how its really intense and calming and also some parts funny. I like how it talks about teen pregnancy because some young teens will want to get pregnant at such a young age and if they read this book it may help them change their mind and wait till they get older, thats very important to me. I really like the chapter where Bobby was talking about the wall when he was trying to get everything back in place and try to see who he really was, i thought that part was really good. I like how it goes back and fourth for the chapters like then and now, it makes you want to read more because in one chapter it tells you really good information and you just want to read even more till the…

The book showed different scenarios that normal sophomores could go through and how to deal with the problem, even if it is a bad decision. Not only did it show how to deal with life situations, but the book also showed you have to fix them next time and do better. It also teaches how to maintain a friendship through a rough high school year which features a lot of drama. It shows how strong friendship can be, and no matter what happens to one another, one always needs to be there to support his/her friends and have their backs. The book was an easy read that showed one a storyline of a relatable concept that gave signs to look out for such as friends who leave a person alone in a car while they make one break the law or when the same friend forced Maddie consume a drink at a party that tastes odd. I enjoyed the book, but I felt like the foul language was unnecessary, and I also feel like they should take it out because more people need to read this book while not being cautious of it being…

I can relate the situation from the novel Tears of a Tiger to my own life. For example, In the novel it says that the boys were drinking, on page 12. Rob and Andy put beer in Andy’s car so that they would be cold when they went driving that night. This can happen all the time in people's life especially in school. People do things they are not supposed to do and they try to get other people to do it with them. According to the text, it says the Andy was swaying while he was driving on page 12. This happens in real life when you drink and drive. I've never personally drove or been with anyone that has been drinking while driving but this is a real thing and it is very dangerous. On page 12 it says, “Yeah,…

He is one of my new favorite authors and is definitely extremely talented. This book was pretty clear throughout the whole story. Nothing was difficult to read or impossible to understand. It moved swiftly which made it an easy read, and kept me interested the whole time. You stay in the real world when reading this book, it faces real life situations teenagers go through. It reflected reality well because anyone could face some of the situations these teenagers faced. Peer pressure, moving to a new school, tragedy and school in general. These two extracts from the passage illustrate that although Andy is dying the world is still moving and no one cares or even looks at Andy. Also it shows to us that Andy is isolated from society. At this point in the story Andy realises that being in a gang has detached him from the rest of the world and there is no going back. This relates to the theme of regret as…

The setting of a dystopian California was extremely interesting, it made me wonder how my home state could get this way. It also hinted on the status of other places in the United States and it was a great mystery not really knowing how things out of the Republic's zone of influence were doing. The characters were another strong point in this book. Seeing both sides of the character's views was really interesting and entertaining. You really got to see the world through the eyes of an oppressed outlaw who was trying to save his brother, and you got to see the world through a vengeful military prodigy who just wants to find her brother's killer. This book definitely passed my expectations. I honestly was not expecting much from just another dystopian young adult novel but having it being set in a California that looks much different from my own and getting to see two different perspectives really won me over. Legend is not perfect however, there were a couple out of character moments and one romantic relationship that in my opinion seemed extremely forced at…

I'm glad I got to read this book , being the first person to read it because it's new is pretty cool. I would recommend this book to anyone. “You can't judge a book by its cover” the cover of this book and the story are way different but it adds up at the end. Just reading how his life went down hill then he got it back together made it such a good book.
