Blanco Hall Case Study
Texas State University requires almost every freshman student to live on campus. Every year, Blanco Hall deteriorates and gets dirtier. Yet, this dormitory remains an option for students to lease in the Fall. As a current student who resides in Blanco Hall, I see this building forego physical changes every day. I believe Texas State University should bring attention to Blanco Hall as Blanco Hall does not have clean bathrooms, does not provide suitable living space for 3 roommates, and does not include a lobby spacious enough for the residents to enjoy themselves. Therefore, improvements of the physical structure and cleanliness are necessary for this dorm. Blanco Hall does not have clean bathrooms; hence, improvements of the physical structure and cleanliness are necessary for this dorm. Blanco Hall has kept the same bathrooms since the building first opened over 40 years ago. These bathrooms are the same bathrooms that current students take showers and brush their teeth in daily. I take showers in bathtubs that contain calcium, lime, hard water stains, grime, and other mineral buildup. The sinks that are in the …show more content…
Texas State University claims the title “The Most Beautiful Campus in Texas” when Texas State doesn’t even show off this dorm as a dorm they own. When will Texas State finally consider improving the conditions of Blanco Hall, instead of building new dorms? Why do I have to pay the same price as nicer dorms, yet receive poor quality living? When will the residents well-being and needs be met? Why isn’t Texas State prioritizing the renovation of Blanco Hall? Right now, an uncertainty of when this solution will take place is unsure. But one thing is sure, that Blanco Hall won’t take accountability for these living conditions until either someone gets seriously harmed or the residents constantly put in the same complaints of this
