I think bill gates is an important person because he made a big difference in home technology. Bill gates is the richest man in the world and why? Because he studied as hard as he could and went to college. When he was thirteen he wrote his first software program. Which let him and his friends play tic tac toe. When bill gates was going to Harvard college his friend Paul Allen showed him the newest electronic hardware system in a popular electronics magazine. A man named ed Roberts made the first personal computer in Alburquerque new Mexico it was the Altair 8800 Bill and Allen had been waiting for this moment their entire lives and wanted to be a part of it.

They made anew computer language they hoped the Altair could understand. Allen went to New Mexico to see if their hard work paid off. Bill was worried that the company MITS would not take them seriously but they were actually amazed and gave them their own Altair 8800.when gates was nineteen he dropped out of Harvard and along with Allen founded Microsoft. They also hired some other people who helped perfect their binary system and get it out on the market. After a year or two of this language they weren’t making much profit. They felt that Microsoft needed a change. So gates and Allen moved to Seattle in 1980 and teamed up with a Harvard roomate named Steve Ballmer.

In august of 1980 the three men went to IBM’s corporate office in Miami to offer them a disk operating

“Bill Gates, in full William Henry Gates III (born October 28, 1955, Seattle, Washington, U.S.), is an American computer programmer and entrepreneur who co-founded Microsoft Corporation, the world’s largest personal-computer software company. Gates wrote his first software program at the age of 13. In high school he helped form a group of programmers who computerized their school’s payroll system and founded Traf-O-Data, a company that sold traffic-counting systems to local governments. In 1975 Gates, then a sophomore at Harvard University, joined his hometown friend Paul G. Allen to develop software for the first microcomputers. They began by adapting BASIC, a popular programming language used on large computers, for use on microcomputers. With the success of this project, Gates left Harvard during his junior year and, with Allen, formed…

From his first business venture through his multi-billion dollar deals, Bill Gates has always been a ferocious and keen businessman. Bill Gates first started tinkering with computers when his high school, Lakeside Prep, wanted to acquaint its students with computers. In 1968 the school held a fund raiser to buy computer time on a DEC PDP-10 computer that was owned by General Electric. Lakeside was able to raise enough money for what they thought would be ample time to last throughout the entire year. Bill Gates, along with Paul Allen and a handful of friends, used all of the purchased computer time within a few weeks. Most of them were spending all day and night in the computer lab; some even began to skip class and failed to turn in homework because of the allure of the computer. After they were out of computer time the school had a lucky break as one of the student’s father worked for a company called Computer Center Corporation, a company that offered affordable computing time. A deal between the school and CCC gave Gates much more computer time than the original deal had. Immediately Gates and friends began pushing the boundaries of the machine they were given. They crashed the system several times, which also led to the security system on the computer breaking. However, they did not get into trouble until it was discovered that they had edited the files that tracked the amount of computer time they used. It was this exploit that got the group banned from the computer lab, but later was the reason that CCC hired the programmers.…

Bill Gates from a young age had always been into computers since a young age. He attended school in Harvard, but later dropped out to start his own software company, showing his entrepreneur spirit. During the first five years of Microsoft, although he helped write codes with the software he also oversaw the business side of the company. Bill Gates was already running a successful company, with a successful product even with limited business experience. In 1979 hired Steve Smith to be his first business manager of the company. Smith said “I was amazed at how successful they were without what appeared to be any real business management” (Erickson and Wallace 148). That is a testament to how Bill Gates changed business by focusing more on the performance of the product, instead of how to market it. Microsoft started off as a product known as BASIC, which was programming language for early computers. With Bill’s entrepreneurial and innovative spirit he didn’t stop there however, in 1985 Microsoft released its first ever operating system, known as Microsoft Windows 1.0. After the small success of Windows 1.0, Gates was able to form a partnership with a bigger technology company at the time, IBM, to help make an operating system for their computers known as O/S 2. Not long after this product, Microsoft decided to expand and made office productivity products known as Microsoft Office, which was also very well selling and a testament to Bill Gates entrepreneurship. He continued working on the Microsoft Windows operating system, and in 1990 Microsoft Windows 3.0…

In the movie Glory there were many inspirational characters that went against the normal behavior of the time, and acted out of honor, justice, and equality. Even when the North was against slavery and the South was for it, there were many people in the North who treated blacks as inferior to whites. They were not advocates of slavery, but they still believed that blacks could be considered as less, and did in fact treat them this way. In Glory the black soldiers were not given the same rights and privileges as white soldiers, and it was quite evident. The black soldiers were giving up the same things and risking their lives just like the white soldiers, so they should have been given the same rights. My favorite character in the movie was Major Cabot Forbes. He may not seem like an important character, but he was the essence of balance between the white leaders and the black soldiers. He never once believed that the whites were in any way superior to the blacks, and he treated the black soldiers with compassion and as friends, rather than subordinates. He worked alongside the black soldiers and offered his assistance and experience. Major Forbes was my favorite character in this movie.…

Although he arouses as much animosity as admiration for his hardball tactics (there's even a book about his mortal enemies: Gary Rivlin's The Plot to Get Bill Gates, Times Books), everyone, friend or foe recognizes Gates as the rightful Usher-in-Chief of the Information Age. It all started when, at age 25, Gates persuaded IBM to let him keep the rights to the DOS operating system they had him develop for something called the personal computer (he actually bought the program from another company and adapted it, with considerable retailoring for the PC). Thinking the program would be quickly replaced anyway, IBM agreed to pay for a license to use it rather than purchase it outright. Now Microsoft software operates 90 percent of the world's desktop computers.…

In 1975, Gates and Allen formed a partnership called Microsoft, which means Computer (Micro) and Software (Soft). Gates grossed 2.3 million dollars off of Microsoft when he was only 23. In 1980, Bill Gates developed an OS for IBM’s new personal computer called MS-DOS. MS-DOS stands for Microsoft Disk Operating System and uses command line format instead of a Graphic Interface as an output. It was designed for sophisticated computer users, but the general public could not use this system, so in 1985, Microsoft launched Windows, which resembled Apple’s Operating System. Windows was based on graphical interface and was designed for the general public.…
