Bilingual Reflection
Personally, I have never been to a conference where I could truly identify with the same ethnic background since finding someone who is Japanese or Buddhist is very rare in my community. Taking this experience of feeling excluded, I want to connect with others whether it be those who come from different or same ethnic group, social class, sexuality, and so on, to come together and share our personal experiences of being a minority. In the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), I hope to meet new people outside my community and even those who I have not met in the Sacred Heart Prep community as well and learn from one another.
