The universe and everything existing in the past and now has purpose i it creation and destruction from living organism to extinct organisms. And since everything has a purpose everything was created for a reason why was the universe created and who or what created it.this question has been asked throughout the whole existance of earth and throughout that time there has been many answers but the main two answers have been the big bang theory and intelligent design.as a christain i beliven intelligent design not only because it make since becuase it shows proof of desighn throughout the universe and earth.
