Benvolio The Peace Keeper In Romeo And Juliet
Benvolio the peace keeper. When he talks it is peaceful such as Mahatma gandhi “ I offer you peace I offer you love I offer you friendship let us work together. For unity and peace. “ Gandhi does this sound like someone that does not care for others. Throughout Shakespeare's play of Romeo and Juliet Benvolio shows his peacefulness in his words, his actions and the way others talk about him. This essay will be a summarization of all those traits broken down into three different paragraphs, this is Benvolio the peace keeper. In this first paragraph we show Benvolio's peace in his words. The first way that Benvolio shows his peace funds in his words is in act 2 scene 1 line 22 “an if he hear thee thou wilt anger him.“(2.1.22). …show more content…
The first place where it is other people's thoughts of Benvolio's peacefulness is in act 1 scene 1 lines 151-152 “I would thou wert so happy by thy stay to hear true shrift. Come, madam let's away” (1.1.151-152 ). This is montague thanking Benvolio for staying to listen to Romeo complain about his love life this shows Benvolio is a peaceful character because he is willing to listen to others the second way Benvolio how's his peacefulness is in act one scene one where Romeo and Benvolio are talking and Romeo says “oh teach me how I should forget to think”(1.1.219) what this shows is that Romeo is trusting of Benvolio to teach him how to forget Rosalina. This shows Benvolio is a peaceful person because people trust him enough to have his thought this is why Benvolio is a peaceful person.
In this essay it showed how Benvolio is a peaceful person through his words his actions and other people's thoughts. Such as with his words in act 2 scene 1 line 22 where he defends Romeo who is not there. Also in his actions with act 1 scene 1 lines 57-58 where he stops a street fight in the first scene. Finally through others thoughts of him in act 1 Scene 1 lines 151-152. This is where lord montague thanks him for helping Romeo through his love sickness. These are the ways that Benvolio shows his peacefulness through his words his actions and others

“You know where I live bring me my pen and paper and some horses’’,says Romeo (Act 5 ,scene 1).This quote shows how when Romeo found out the false new about Juliet and how he took it outta proportion.Another reason Romeo is to blame is because Romeo is the one who killed tyrant out of emotion he wouldn't be banned but still have a forbidden love for his father's enemies daughter Juliet. One of the many quotes I decided to use was when benvolio realized what Romeo had done. “Tybalts dead, and the officers are coming If they catch you. You'll be executed.(Act 3 Scene 1…

The movie does not include the last bit of prologue, Romeo and Benvolio talk about whats wrong with Romeo and the Servant bumping into Romeo and talking to Capulet about the party.…

Firstly, Benvolio serves as a foil to Tybalt. To begin with, Tybalt wanted to start a fight, but Benvolio tried to stop it. The following quote shows how Tybalt wanted to fight but Benvolio didn’t “I do but keep the peace.”/ “ I hate the word as I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee. Have at thee,…

I believe that Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence was the one that gave Juliet the potion that made her appear dead, therefore misleading Romeo and causing him to kill himself. Friar Laurence says “Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run A cold and drowsy humor; no pulse, no warmth, no breath.” When Friar Laurence was figuring out this plan he could had come up with something safer or a backup plan just in case something went wrong. He also should had thought of the pros and cons of this plan before he went through with it because he was faced with a huge problem when the plan could not get through to Romeo and…

This scene serves as a contrast to the preceding scene in Friar Laurence's cell. Mercutio and Benvolio are in a merry mood as they walk along talking and laughing about Romeo whom they think is still pining away over Rosaline. Benvolio mentions that Tybalt has sent a challenge to Romeo. Mercutio then gives a long description of Tybalt's eagerness to fight. Romeo comes along in a good mood after his talk with Friar Laurence. They engage in a series of puns matching their wits against each other. Along comes Juliet's nurse and Peter (her servant).…

Friar Laurence is the character who is most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Firstly, Friar Laurence marries Romeo and Juliet without either parents’ knowledge. He says “To turn your households’ rancour to pure love.” [II. iv. 95] in hope that the two families will get along. Moreover, they are from rival families who hate each other. Secondly, when he learns about the Capulet’s plan to marry Juliet to Paris, instead of helping Juliet escape or discussing the marriage with Paris, he comes up with the plan to get Juliet to drink the potion. The plan is unreliable in many different respects. The potion could not work, either killing Juliet or not making her appear died. Also, there would be timing issues, what if Romeo couldn’t…

At first glance, one may look over the character of Friar Laurence and dismiss him as only a minor player in the story of Romeo and Juliet. However, upon closer examination, it becomes obvious that the Friar plays an essential role in the development of the play and is notable for moving the action along. A Franciscan friar, he is also an expert of plants and natural remedies. At the beginning of the play, we learn that he is very close with Romeo and considers Romeo to be his pupil. Romeo considers Friar Laurence someone he can confide in, and therefore tells him about his newfound love, Juliet, as soon as possible. The Friar, however, is not convinced. He feels that Romeo is very…

Friar Laurence’s good character traits are expressed in two conversations with Romeo. First, he shows that he is educated by showing his knowledge of classic mythology with an allusion to the sun god Titan. His education is also shown when he was gathering herbs for special purposes, and that he knew what they are used for shows his knowledge in medicine. Also, when he uses the soliloquy on plants and…

Everyone, the Man of the Party, the man we all know - er, knew.. - and loved, Sir Mercutio! The character that I chose from Romeo and Juliet is, of course, Mercutio. Mercutio is the friend of Romeo and Benvolio and the relative of Prince Escalus. He is extremely relevant to the plot, for Mercutio provoked Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, causing the two to fight. "Come, sir, your passado." (III.i.80). Romeo attempted to intervene which gave Tybalt leverage to reach around him and stab Mercutio. The death of his friend angered Romeo, who then fought and killed Tybalt, thus granting him exile to Mantua and leaving the rest of the plot to fall into place.…

Tybalt is a man whose anger dominates his behavior. He would much rather fight than work problems with others out. He actually says he hates peace to Benvolio during the beginning of the play when Benvolio was trying to make peace between Montague and Capulet attendants; Tybalt exclaims,” What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word, as I hate hell, all Montagues, and…

Benvolio comes closest to behaving according to my own values. Benvolio is really caring and will help anyone who needs it, I believe that´s how people should be. Benvolio doesn't want all of the fighting between the two families and if I were in his shoes, I wouldn't want it either. He is always trying to make peace but it's always unsuccessful. I feel like I would try to make peace too because the feud is ridiculous. Benvolio also makes the best decisions because he didn't kill anyone. He also never got himself into fights with the Capulets. He also never killed himself just because the person he loves died.…
