Bella Voca Reflection
In high school for all four years I was very passionate about being on the speech team and a choir member. My categories for speech were in humorous, informative, and extemporaneous reading. In fine arts I was involved with the large group choir, select choir, musical, plays, and church worship team.
Currently I am a part of the Forensics team and Bella Voca. I joined the SMSU Forensics team this year. My topic was a persuasive speech on the need for broadband internet in rural America. I had the privilege of completing at all the TCFL meets and at my first state tournament. The state tournament was definitely a highlight of the season. Secondly I engage in Fine Arts here at SMSU by being a member of Bella Voca, the

Throughout these organizations I am either serving as a mentor or using my media skills. For example, with Chapel Assistants I have the opportunity to help prepare for each chapel service but I also serve in the Media Ministry which is responsible for making CD’s for each service, mailing CDs to attendees, and being sure the speaker gets a copy of their sermon. I love the job because I truly get to build relationships with those that attend chapel. Within the Spotlight Network I am currently a reporter in which I report events that are going on campus. This year the Spotlight Network will have its own shows and I will serve as a reporter of the shows. With Howard Players I get work on my acting skills by attending workshops. Alternative Spring Break, was my chance to be able to spend an entire week Mentoring students at Normandy High School which is located in Ferguson Missouri. To this day I continue to mentor those students I met through email. In the Freshman Leadership Academy my freshman year all year I was taught to be a leader and even had the opportunity to travel to China and provide service. Because I am a sophomore I get to use the things I learn to help mentor a current freshman. Lastly, Matriculate is a recent organization that is affiliated with Howard’s campus in which through google hangout I mentor students in low income high school.…

Olaudah Equiano’s life as a slave was different compared to the other slave stories we have known. His experiences as a slave were actually pretty amazing. Some of his masters treated him as part of their family which was rarely to happen for a slave. In addition, he was able to go around and explore the world; but that's not it, he even purchased his own freedom. One of the bad things that I considered really changed his life was when he and his sister was abducted to sell and later on got separated from one another. This could highly affect a person’s different aspect of his or her life especially when they're close to whoever they got separated from. Equiano used that separation with his sister to keep on traveling farther from home rather…

I had joined my church youth choir and loved every moment of it. Then, once middle school came I decided I wanted to continue my music education by joining the band playing the trombone. The next year I decided to try out for the middle school field hockey team and made it. I continued with band and field hockey until my freshman year of high school when I had the intentions of quitting field hockey in order to pursue marching band because no one had ever done both before. I soon came to my senses and decided that not only was I going to continue with both band and field hockey, but I was also going to be the first person to successfully do that. On top of this, I decided I would audition for the school musical and jazz ensemble which would also overlap with the end of the marching band and field hockey seasons. Through much communication with my coaches and band directors, and musical directors I was able to accomplish this for all four years of my high school career and I wouldn't have had it any other…

I am a church member and musician at Revival Tabernacle. By being a musician, I find myself working with the talents and ideas of others as we come together on one accord and produce a skilled sound. I am also currently a student at Jones County High School. Being a student, I am a service to other organizations at school by being an usher for Graduation and also the Chorus Department. My recent involvement in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and DECA has enriched my knowledge of the business sector and how we all come together as a society and produce great ideas. In these organizations, I was able to be a holiday helper at local Nursing Homes to bring cheer to the residents. From my participation in these organizations and activities, I learned that it is better to give than receive. I was able to gain experience with dealing with the public and also give people a sense of comfort and love.…

Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.…

When I was in high school the only thing that mattered to me was singing. I grew up in a family that sang in churches, all over the east coast. I found that music was something that I could do that made me happy. My mother sacrificed so that I would be able to get voice lessons and for that I will forever be grateful. So, when I had the opportunity to audition for a musical or choir It was always fun to watch the director's faces, because I was little but I had a lot of power. When I was growing up this was my life, back and forth to rehearsals and lessons.…
