When conducting the survey for whether David should have been removed from the bubble once doctors saw this his sister’s bone marrow was not a match for him, the winning answer was that no, David should not have been removed. To support this decision, the most important point to consider is that David’s life has been an essential study to develop the cure of SCID. By putting David in the bubble, doctors were able to learn more about SCID to help future generations. Whether you call this a “living experiment” or a “guinea pig”, there’s no doubt that researchers and doctors learned a great deal from David’s death to finally reach an experimental treatment in 1990. According to William Shearer, one of David’s doctors, "David's life was important, but his greatest contribution medically was his death, because with this information, we will be able to treat other children with this disease." After using David’s life as a resource for Doctors, a cure was developed through gene therapy in 1993. Keeping David in the bubble for as long as they could was the best thing the doctors could do for David, because had they let him out, they knew death was certain for him. Had they let him out, they would be euthanizing David against his wishes. David and his family always had the option to let him out of the bubble whenever they wanted. Because David’s life was essential to help future generations of SCID patients, David should not have been removed from the bubble once they saw his sister’s bone marrow was not a match for…

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a book about falsely diagnosing mental illnesses. McMurphy primarily came to the ward to receive the perks of living in the ward and escaping reality. Little did he know that he would still be perceived as an insane person with a mental illness but is able to determine right away that he isn’t the worst of the patients, “This new redheaded Admission, McMurphy, knows right away he’s not a Chronic. After he checks the day room over a minute, he sees he’s meant for the Acute side” (18). Not only is McMurphy continuously mistaken for the typical insane patient in the ward but he’s mistaken for his character. McMurphy is probably the most sane person in the ward and most of the people in the ward are able to fend for him and agree that he is the light that has gone off in their minds. In the beginning of the novel Chief is able to prove the sanity of McMurphy with one determination, “But it’s not that way that Public Relation laughs, it’s free and loud and it comes out of his wide grinning mouth and spreads in rings bigger and bigger till it’s lapping against the walls all over the ward” (12). By the premature inference of being admitted to the ward solely for the reason of being insane, probably wasn’t the best idea for Big Nurse because little did she know she would be dealing with a fully capable man. McMurphy was able to figure out the sanity in not only himself but helped the others in the ward determine that they weren’t alone in the self-conscious state that they thought only affected themselves. McMurphy was the sanity within all of the patients.…

In S.E Hinton's novel, The Outsiders, there are many themes represented in the book, but one of the main themes is social ostracism, or the conflict between the economic classes. There are two rival gangs within The Outsiders: the Socs and the Greasers. The Socs represent the upper class while the Greasers represent the lower class. The Socs, "jump greasers and wreck houses and throw beer blasts for kicks, and get editorials in the paper for being a public disgrace one day and an asset to society the next." The Greasers, who are on the low social economic side, "steal things and drive old souped-up cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while." The conflict between the rich and the poor goes even further than economics and goes to values too. This is said through Cherry, herself a member of the Socs. "You greasers have a different set of values. You're more emotional. We're sophisticated—cool to the point of not feeling anything." As you can see, these two groups are divided by these differences. In this conflict of this gang, there is Sodapop Curtis, a greaser. Ponyboy’s happy-go-lucky, handsome "movie-star good looking" brother. Sodapop is 16 years old and the middle Curtis boy of the family. Ponyboy envies Sodapop’s good looks and charm. His best friend is Steve Randle, has been his best friend since grade school. Sodapop plans to marry Sandy, a greaser girl. His two brothers, Darry and Ponyboy Curtis, who are also greasers. They are on the lower end of economics and they have to work very hard for money to keep up a house and support Ponyboy through school (Darry and Soda both quit). Sodapop gave up his education to work at a DX gas station and uses the money he makes (though not much) to support the family.
