Becoming A Certified Nursing Assistant Essay
My most rewarding achievement was becoming a certified nursing assistant (CNA) this past month. My younger years were always spent in a nursing home or a group home for disabled adults. Both grandmothers were CNA’s at the time and was always working. They are both still currently there working, hard as ever, they are in their sixties and plan to retire soon. I remember how cool it was to follow grandma around while she works, it still is. I actually work with with my grandma, it can be somewhat annoying. She has been working there for thirty years now, so I grew helping. I was always interested in many things. Would they grow out of AlS? Would they be able to feed themselves and not depend on a puree? Could they eventually drink water and not be honey thickened? Could they walk down the hall ways and not need a gait belt no longer? The answer was no, they will not be able to do many thing by themselves. For some reason that always made me sad as it should anyone. You see an older women, who cannot speak and has a left contracted arm disability, she cries when you get her ready for bed, it breaks my heart. You could see someone who is dying of cancer and you walk in to turn her every two hours.She begins to show modeling and has yellow eyes.You can smell death

I was working at a nursing home at the time and knew most of what a CNA had done. It took me two months to find the right classes I needed to take. Most of those classes could be up to sixteen weeks if you took them at an Ivy Tech Campus, mine took me three weeks through All Heart. I was very blessed to have be approved to early and start right away. So, I went to work full time during the summer and meanwhile I was studying for my state test and doing clinicals between Anderson Community Hospital and Liberty Village. The bad thing about clinicals are, you do not get paid for them. At that point I was working sixteen hour days and not getting paid for half of
