Beatitudes And Ten Commandments
When comparing and contrasting The Beatitudes: Mt 5:1-12 and The Ten Commandments there are an abundant amount of similarities and differences. A majority of these passages are involving being faithful to God and he will show mercy on you. He also seems to be saying if you stand by him you will be rewarded in heaven. To start off, the 11th Beatitude says, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. In tenth Commandments God also states that “You shall have no other gods before me.” in the third commandment. These are all things that most people really respect and honor. Some people fail at trying to follow these commandments and commit crimes and dishonor their mother and father and will be punished by God. Families pass these values down generation to generation and instill them in their children in hopes they will bring their children up they same way they were. God wants us all to become respectful, honest, loyal, human beings and to spread the word of God.
In the story of Moses and the Burning Bush, Moses was keeping a flock of his father-in-law when he spotted a burning bush the angel of the Lord appeared to him in the flame of the burning bush. God told him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. God explained to Moses I am who I am. In the book “ How Do Catholics Read The Bible (Harrington 5) Reading the Old Testament, it is said that Jews refer to what Christians call “The Old Testament” as “Tanakh” or “the Bible”. The three most prominent replacements are the Hebrew Bible, the Jewish Scriptures, and the First Testament. They say half of the problem is today’s concept of “new” and “old”. It is sad some refer to old as a bad thing and new as good.
