Banning Smoking in Public Places
It has become fashionable in the world today to condemn smoking. However, although I feel that smoking can be harmful, I do not think it should be banned completely. Let’s deal first with the positive side of smoking. First, smoking undoubtedly helps many people to relax. For some, it even improves concentration. Many people like to smoke before exams or when they are relaxing with friends.

A further point is that governments throughout the world make huge profits from levying taxes on cigarettes. This provides funds can be used for building schools, hospitals and other public amenities. The tobacco industry also employs tens of thousands of people throughout the world, particularly in poorer countries. Without cigarettes, these people would have no jobs.
Therefore, people should have the right to choose whether they smoke or not. People should not smoke in a room where there are non-smokers but surely they should be free to smoke elsewhere, where it is allowed.

The arguments against smoking are well known. Smoking has been shown to be dangerous to health. Heart disease, bronchitis and lung cancer have all been linked. A further issue is that smoking costs governments millions because of the large number of people who need treatment in hospitals for smoking related problems. There is also concern today about passive smoking. Recent research has shown that non-smokers can suffer health problems if they spend long periods of time among people who do smoke.

In my opinion, smoking in public places should be prohibited. There are many reasons that support this point of view.
At first I think that smoking in public places causes a considerable amount of harm to people those who are non-smokers. The second reason is that smoking is a cause of pollution. There is a lot of research that shows that many kinds of gases that is released by smoking and is harmful for the environment, such as tar and carbon dioxide.

The last argument against smoking in public places is: Smoking in public place is very destructive for the children. Children tend to copy what they observe and are the influenced by the normality of smoking around them. If anyone smoking in front of a child, the child may be think it that smoking is a good thing but it is not, of course this argument depends a lot, on how the fathers educate their children’s, or if they are some parents that smokes around their children’s.

In my opinion Smoking should be banned, from public places, just if they don’t have the infrastructure, to smoke, like open spaces or such. Of course these argument stands for bars and such, but when it comes to places like parks , and other places a like, it should be banned.
In general, I think the world would be a better place without cigarettes. However, the decision as to whether to smoke or not should be for each individual to make.

There are many reasons why smoking in public should be banned. The three main reasons to ban smoking in public are because of the health risks, offensive smell, and environmental risks that are the cause of cigarette smoke. Secondhand smoke is smoke from a cigarette, cigar, or pipe that is involuntarily inhaled, especially by non-smokers (The American Heritage Stedman’s Medical Dictionary, n.d.). In many public places smoking is allowed and is not fair because non-smokers are exposed to chemicals that can harm them internally and externally. Children for example, are chronic victims of secondhand smoke. The inhalation of cigarette smoke that can harm people nearby is called passive smoking (Pros Vs. Cons, 2007, p.1). Also cigarette smoke can make non-smokers agitated by the smell of cigarette smoke, which is not very pleasant. Also the environment is tainted by the hazardous chemicals, which can cause permanent scars on the earth. For the most part, smoking in public should be banned to help decreases its negative affects.…

It has become common knowledge that smoking is bad for people’s health, nonetheless people continue to smoke. To be honest, that is fine. If people want to endanger themselves by smoking then I wish them a swift and peaceful end (though most smokers die a slow and agonizing death). What is not acceptable is the effect that smoke has on non-smokers who have almost no way of getting away from smoke unless they want to stay in their house. Smokers affect everyone around them for the worse. Smoking should be restricted or banned from all public places because the health of non-smokers should not be jeopardized by secondhand smoke.…
