The fourth age the age of affluence otherwise known as generation X or the baby boomer generation. The baby boomer name came from the fact that almost exactly nine months after World War II more babes where born than ever before. Approximately 3.4 million babies where born in 1946 20 percent more than the previous year, the trend continued through 1947 with 3.8 million babies. The trend continued until 1964 when the trend finally lost steam and by that time just over 76 million babies where born,almost 40 percent of the entire nations population at the time. Despite the fact that the economic base in the US has been extremely shaky from the recession in the early 2000’s, it has rebounded due to the government bail out. We however still find ourselves in uncertain times economically. Despite the extreme economic instability in our current time we live in the what has all the hallmarks of any historic age of decadence. This can be seen in our obsessive need to share images of our homes, food,cars,money,travels, and generally anything that can heighten the perception of ourselves to our peers despite the dichotomy of our economic condition. While this trend is most common among millennials over the past ten years with the extreme increase in popularity with social media it has taken roots with most demographics stopping short of the baby boomer generation, however like with anything there are outliers and demographic exceptions. Now that we have established some of the current trends of the age, lets go over what has been seen as historical signs of the decline of society in the the sixth age of decadence. Common features include an undisciplined and overly large military, we can see this in worldwide push for the US to withdraw from many theaters of war round the world due to our size. The complete lack in discipline can be seen in the extremely high number of military discharges of high and low ranking military officials for conduct unbecoming which is unheard of before the last ten
