People within the party were asked about additional condiments needed to complement their order. All orders were delivered and simultaneously served, piping hot and very aromatic to the table. I ordered the BBQ Shrimp Po boy and my mom ordered the half crab sandwich with a cup of corn and crab bisque. My God, the sandwich was so good. The 8inch french bread was crisp on the outside and soft inside. The BBQ shrimp were cooked to a delicious peak with a combination of spices and herbs that enhanced the flavor complimented by light mayo stuffed inside the French bread. As I anticipated, it was a feast for the palate, hot and exactly as I ordered.…

I plump down beside Max and start crunching down on my ovalteenies.…

Guests at the retreat center always ate meals in common, but they had an option to take those meals outdoors. Fortunately, it was chilly enough outside that no one else opted to join them on the porch, where they would have complete privacy. The bitter night Avah was killed the whole town was out celebrating. The Spring Festival was an annual affair and only the most isolated of persons would have not been there. It was a festival meticulously planned out by those intrigued in such matters and each detail was carried out to exact perfection. The Humphrey family would perform a skit each year at exactly six-thirty, the mayor would grace the audience with a well-planned speech at six-forty-five. I could see the intricate designs of grapevines that had been masterfully carved into the light oak posts that held the entryway above my head. Through a miniature window on the far side of the room, I could get a slight glance of the steaming pasta noodles that had been drenched in luscious red spaghetti sauce, before the waitress guided us to our seats. I could feel anticipation building up as the waitress guided us to one of the most well placed tables in the whole restaurant. The light brown, cloth drapes that rested against the smooth brick wall of the restaurant grazed my arm as I passed under one of the exits outside. As soon as the fresh air whipped my face, the noticeable scent of fresh chocolate mousse cake assaulted my nose. I could feel the soft, plush cushioning that rested underneath my backside as I sat down to great relief. My eyes scanned my surroundings, taking in all the sights and smells that I could contain within myself without being overwhelmed. Of all the places to be right then, Charleston was the one. I had experienced the smell of chocolate, the taste of lasagna, the sound of the ocean, the sight of warm, crisp sand, and the feeling of being happy and glad for what I…

My alarm went off, and I slowly woke up with crust filled eyes. Turning on the light while my vision tried to adjust through half dead eyes, I looked for the clothes I laid out the night before. It’s normally five in the morning that we get up to try and beat traffic, and this was the exact routine for every New Orleans travel trip. The primary thing that was on my mind was the event that would take place later that day. Mardi Gras. My family is huge, so when we go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, we expected to see plenty of people. If there were plenty of people then food would have to be an obligation. My family loves to cook and the menu never disappoints. Yet my mind frame focused on one major food, barbequed ribs. That’s all I had in mind half of that hour and thirty minute drive.…
