I. Introduction A. Definition of AI and Related terms

Different persons or institute can define Artificial Intelligence or AI in many ways, depending on their point of view. According to the book of H.L Capron entitled “Computers: Tools for an Information Age, Artificial Intelligence is defined as a field of study that explores on how computers can be used to do tasks that require certain human characteristics such as, instinct, intelligence, and imagination. It researches about the possibility of making computers think and act like human beings. According to Capron’s book, computer scientists often define AI in a more simple way. They define it as the study of how computers will do things that at the present time man can do better. They’ve included the phrase “at the present time” because AI is an evolving science. Evolving in a way that once a problem or flaw in the AI research was solved or fixed, its connection or involvement in the study is moved off. One good example is the game of chess, which was once a mighty challenge for the AI

Defining what exactly AI is has become something of a challenge. Michael Webb said in an interview with David J. Parnell for Forbes (2016), “Fifty years ago, people defined AI as, for example, playing chess. Chess was seen as this quintessentially human ability that would never be approached by machines. It was almost definitional — what it meant to be intelligent was that you could play chess. Then, along came certain algorithms and it turned out that computers could play chess at least as well as humans could.” We use AI every day. Smart phones with voice recognition, self-driving vehicles, and software that can learn our preferences are all examples of AI currently in use today.…

Artificial intelligence is a complex subject that requires some background information to fully understand. One of the earliest definitions of "true" artificial intelligence was proposed by Alan Turing with the Turing Test. The idea behind this test was to have a human ask both a computer and a human a series of questions and then see if the tester could tell which was the computer. The AI did not necessarily need to answer all the questions correctly, it just had to give an answer similar to that a human would give. The test would also be done via text so that the computer would not have problems with mimicking human speech. Very few AIs have passed the test with the first occurring in 2012 as it was judged to be human 52 percent of the time. The other major factor in determining a true artificial intelligence was the Chinese Room Experiments by John Searle as an expansion of the Turing Test. In this experiment, Searle wanted to test whether an intelligence was actually interpreting language or just…

A multitude of different movies portrays Artificial Intelligence (AI) as something to be feared; an entity that would be the demise of humanity. Despite what these movies portray, it is up for dispute whether AI is a threat to humanity. AI is becoming more commonplace and more advanced everyday both in the real and virtual world. Multiple different AI entities have previously malfunctioned and caused issues. A multitude of groups of individuals feels that restrictions should be placed on AI entities, while others believe that AI poses no threat to any individual. Whether or not, AI is a threat is still up to question.…

Within the realm of Artificial Intelligence there are several secs which are responsible for making up that which is A.I. Normally when an individual thinks of Artificial Intelligence a few things come to mind such as the HAL 9000 system, known as “the inimitable star of the classic Kubrick and Clarke film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’”(Picard 2001), others will think of the movie “Blade Runner”, this film featured an alternate future where a group of individuals were responsible for tracking down cyborg humans known as “Sims” which were so human like they actually were unaware that they weren’t actually humans (Scott, Fancher et al. 2007). These films come to mind because until the late 2000’s this was the closest we ever got to Artificial Intelligence…

The use of technology has always been vital to the life and survival of the human race. Ever since the Neanderthals utilized wooden tools to hunt and cook 500,000 years ago, humans have been fascinated with developing the next cutting edge technology or invention. In 1955, John McCarthy used a term called artificial intelligence, and defined it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines". Over the last 60 years with the inventions of computers, cell phones, and the internet, artificial intelligence has become prominent in the news and in mainstream media. Today, the phrase is a hot topic, not just in tech circles, but around the globe, as many experts believe the ensuing breakthrough will come through A.I.…

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the branch of computer science, which concentrates on the intelligence of machines, and involves applying the principles of reasoning, knowledge planning, learning, communication, perception, and controlling objects to emulate the human brain. The most recognizable AI application is robotics from Hollywood cinema, and includes films such as; I Robot, Transformers, Wall-e, WarGames, A.I., The Terminator, Robocop, Iron Man, and Star Wars to name a few, which is fictional not an actual representation of AI. Robotics applications is only one of three aspects of AI, which also includes Cognitive Science applications, and Natural Interface applications, however, the area businesses are finding the most useful is the Cognitive Science applications (Murugavel, 2014).…

The advancement of technology has brought about a new term. This term is artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is the “area of computer science that deals with giving machines the ability to seem like they have human intelligence.” Robots are now capable of doing the jobs that humans were once in control of. The more artificial intelligence advances the more jobs are taken away from humans. In the article “Artificial Intelligence could make us extinct, warn Oxford University researchers” by Mark Stockley, artificial intelligence is shown as being the reason for mankind no longer existing. Researchers have no idea how artificial intelligence is going to react when the robots reach full potential. The strongest…

Artificial intelligence has been portrayed in the entertainment industry in many different ways. Whether through movies like “Star trek” and “Star Wars” where humans are dependent on robots or in more abstract scenarios where artificial intelligence becomes self-aware and rejects human control causing rebellion. These scenarios are pleasing in the idea of having simple tasks taken care of but are frightening in the sense that the same thing that can create such bliss can rebel and destroy society. I believe some representations of A.I. could be possible in the future if not carefully controlled.…

Animal survival depends on highly developed sensory abilities. Likewise, human cognition depends on highly developed abilities to perceive, integrate, and interpret visual, auditory, and touch information. Without a doubt, computers would be much more powerful if they had even a small fraction of the perceptual ability of animals or humans. Adding such perceptual abilities to computers would enable computers and humans to work together more as partners.Blue Eyes uses sensing technology to identify a user's actions and to extract key information. This information is then analyzed to determine the user's physical, emotional, or informational state, which in turn can be used to help make the user more productive by performing expected actions or by providing expected information. For example, in future a Blue Eyes-enabled…
