Arming Teachers
The issue at hand here is “Is There Support for Arming Teachers in Schools?” This issue is argued by both Nirvi Shah, and The National School Safety and Security Services organization. Nirvi Shah believes yes there is support for arming teachers in schools, while The National School Safety and Security Services organization believes no there isn’t. Shah believes yes because there are already teachers who are armed in some districts. Shah’s argument is basically that the law passed in Utah has caused school shootings to end in Utah. Shah interviewed Mr. Dorn, the Georgia school safety consultant and Mr. Dorn stated “Sandy Hook didn’t look anything like Columbine. Columbine didn’t look like Pearl, Miss.,” Shah states that “Ms. Sorenson, a 13-year teaching veteran, is among those bolstered by the fact that there haven’t been school shootings in Utah since the law changed.”
