Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe Analysis
In the Novel Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Sàenz there are many recurring motifs. Two of the most repetitive and meaning full were the sparrows and the desert. In the book, sparrows represent the loss of Aristotle's childhood and innocence while the Desert represents his personality.

Aristotle’s innocence and childhood were portrayed by a sparrow. Aristotle grew up alone, his childhood was depicted as a period of time rushing to adulthood. With a father of war, Aristotle grew up distant from the only available male figure in his life, (the page where his dad says he's sorry for being so distant from him) causing him to grow up faster and more mature. With the loss of childhood comes the loss of innocence.

The evidence of the key theme of loss of innocence can be clearly seen throughout Glen Harwoods poem “Barn Owl”. A key example of the loss of innocence in “Barn Owl” is where the child who is at first described as an “innocent child” then as the poem progresses and the child loses their innocence by killing the barn owl the child is then referred to as a “horny fiend” and lastly the child is mentioned as “afraid”.…

The setup of this novel is great and there are many scenarios of themes that are present. The main focus of this book is to make you aware of the main plots, and it does a great job of that. The main topic I'm working on is about the motifs in this novel. Motifs are the repetitiveness of several items throughout the novel. If you pick up on them then you already know what im talking about. The idea of a motif is to allow the reader to understand why this item is so important and what it has relations to in the book. A Motif can stand for many things in a book such as ,it could be major foreshadowing, or even keeping an idea going on throughout the book. So throughout this book you should really pick up on a couple.…

Initially, the idea that Odysseus, a fully grown Greek man, could go through a process of maturation seems almost ludicrous. What is truly ludicrous, however, is the idea that a man could go through all of the trials Odysseus encounters and not be changed. This discussion of Odysseus' journey to maturity, then, it is certainly not in terms of a child maturing into adulthood, rather, it outlines how Odysseus becomes a wiser, more polished, and fulfilled adult character, and how the metaphor of the dawn parallels this journey in multiple ways.…
