Argumentative Essay: Why Should I Read?
Have you ever asked the question ‘Why should I read?’ or ‘What’s the benefit?’ Well, there’s more to reading than just reading words on a page. Reading is a better choice than watching a movie or playing a game on your computer or any other passive activity because it improves your imagination, focus and concentration, develops a broader vocabulary, and even makes you a better person.
A study done by the NEA shows that people who read for entertainment are more likely than those who do not to go to museums and concerts and three times as likely to participate in charity work. This shows that people who read are more in tune to the world around them than those who do not. Reading makes you a well rounded and informed person.
Reading also improves your imagination. Have you ever been stuck while writing an essay for a class and you can’t think of any ideas at all? You can easily pull out a good book and begin reading it and before you know it, the light bulb inside of your head is turned on and the book you were reading sparked your imagination. Now, you won’t have any trouble thinking of an idea for that essay you had to write.

This can improve your focus and concentration by shutting out the outside world and only focusing on the text you’re reading at that moment. This also gives you a greater attention span.
Overall, reading stimulates the brain, helps you focus in a way you probably never thought of before, and makes you an all around good person. Now that you’ve been well educated on the benefits of reading, I strongly encourage you to read as much as you can whenever
