Diary Entries For Lord Of The Flies
Task 1
Lord of the flies
Lord of the flies was my book of choice in our classics project . It was written by William Golding, a British book writer and noble prize winner. I chose to read this book because I have heard good things about it, both from my parents and my classmates. Lord of the flies was the most appealing book to me in the collection we had to choose from. The book is considered a classic and is some of the most recognizable literature William Golding has written. I only had time to read the first half of the book, the rest I read in a summary. I regret having to read half the book in a summary, because it sounded very good and exciting.
The book is about a group of schoolboys from Britain who are evacuated from the country

And to be honest with you, I haven’t read a single book outside school in years. The last time I did, I was in elementary school and read a book around 200 pages long. It was awfully boring to me. Sitting silently with a book in my hands for just a few minutes sounded terrible. Instead I used my time playing football and video games. When I was done with school I didn’t think a single thought about reading when I came home . All I could think about was the football match I had later or the video games I was going to play. “If you read 30 minutes a day, instead of playing video games or being with your friends, you would be a much greater writer and your vocabulary will expand”, my dad often said. And I totally agree with him, but those 30 minutes felt like hours to me, and I was just too tempted to do almost anything …show more content…

And that’s what’s so great about it, you find a book you want to read and you read it. But books are not only used as a tool to learn new things, it’s mostly used for entertainment purposes. People read about terrible crimes, or travelling around the world or meeting people who lived ages ago. Books help you understand other people’s meanings and thoughts. And, which can give you a whole new perspective on the

Left to fend for themselves, they must take on the responsibilities of adults, even if they are not ready to do so. Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

The heavily debated topic on people being “born evil” has been around for over decades. One can argue society corrupts us and brings evil upon us, but the other side pronounces everybody born evil and fully capable of possessing it from the start. Evil is all around us and inherently, residing in us too. Under certain circumstances evil is prominently shown such as in a group of marooned schoolboys on an island with no supervision. Through the pros and cons of an island lacking guidance, the boys will discover how powerful the evil inside them can truly be. In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, the decline in civilization stems from the innate evil within all humans due to the children’s newfound savagery, demonstrating that humans are always conflicting with the evil they are capable of possessing.…

It is very subtly indicated that the book takes place in the midst of an unspecified nuclear war. Some are ordinary students, while others arrive as a coherent body under an established leader (a choir). Most appear never to have encountered each other before. The book portrays their descent into savagery; left to themselves in a paradisiacal country, far from modern civilization, the well-educated children regress to a primitive state.…

Innocence is often associated with a happy and carefree youth, while savagery is associated with a lack of civilization. Although innocence and savagery have very different meanings, the opposing forces can ultimately lead to mankind’s destruction. This is shown in Golding's Lord of the Flies, where the tone of the passage in "Painted Faces and Long Hair" is one of fascination and violence.…

It's hard to imagine our lives without books. We learn a lot of interesting things when we read books. Books are our great friend, teachers and advisers. They teach us how to take the next step when we are in a difficult situation. They help to shape our life. It is impossible to become an educated person without books. Besides, books play an important role in upbringing our feelings, views and tastes; give us a lot of useful information. Frankly speaking I'm not a bookworm but when I have spare time I read books with great pleasure. It seems to me that books are a source of emotional inspiration and romantic feelings, it's a miracle in some way, because an author provides a story and a reader can conjure the characters in his own way, to imagine how they look like, their voices, gestures and facial expressions, etc.…

There are books which contain arguments about various subjects like .sometimes people agree with such arguments and sometimes they do not. As a result one develops better reasoning skills. One also builds expertise in one’s chosen field of career by reading more and more books on their interest of study like a book on uranium helps a scientist to gain knowledge about the advantages disadvantages and uses of uranium. Reading books can take us to any places and time. Just read and let your imagination explore. It also can give us further knowledge to the things that surrounds us. And it help us in our comprehension, practices our fluency, and many others. It can also tour us to the Egypt, Greece, Spain and many place here on earth without wasting money, and energy. It also takes us beyond the outer space, galaxies, meteors, stars and throughout the universe with no needing of rocket. And lastly, it let us meet Romeo & Juliet, Achilles, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, and of course our God and savior Jesus Christ. All information about them is come from books. We will never know them without the books. Some of them maybe real and others may be just a tale. Book is really our friend; it could take us, meet people we desire. But nowadays, because reading books is boring and you have to read for almost a week or month, students today are so lazy to that and they always have the speech of “it’s a waste of time”. Indeed, students treat their books as their enemy and just remember them when they have an exam or quizzes.
