Animal experimentation is procedures performed on animals for purposes of research into diseases, cosmetics, household cleaners, food additives, and pharmaceuticals. The most common species tested on are mice, fish, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs, mini-pigs, and chimpanzees. It is predicted that more than 115 million animals worldwide are used in laboratory testing every year (PETA) . Most people don’t consider that animals undergoing experimentation are being subjected to unnecessary pain, captivity, and suffering. The science behind animal testing is not reliable and there are alternatives to save the lives of these helpless (Animal Liberation).
