Donald Trump recently passed an executive order titled “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States”. This executive order suspends the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program for 120 days, restricts admission of citizens from seven countries for 90 days, orders list of countries for entry restrictions after 90 days, suspends admission of syrian refugees indefinitely, Prioritizes refugee claims by individuals from minority religions on the basis of religious-based persecution, expedites a biometric tracking system, and other provisions. This executive order is detaining people from coming into the U.S. because of where they come from, or the religion they practice because in the eyes of our current president, these people are terrorists.
That couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, according to the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security, there have been more than 300 deaths caused by political violence and mass shootings since 9/11, but muslims only accounted for 11%. It’s keeping families apart, keeping teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. from returning to the U.S., and it is keeping refugees from entering the U.S. Refugees are come to the U.S. to escape all the horrible, dangerous, things happening in their country. I am astonished by the amount of people who have to compassion towards any of them and are perfectly okay with this and everything that comes out of our president’s mouth. Not only is this ban harming people planning to enter the U.S., it’s also harming the muslims already in the U.S.. Hate crimes have risen drastically after the election, especially hate crime against muslims. According to the FBI, anti-muslim hate crimes have risen 67% and the number of victims it has affected is more than victims of fatalities caused by muslim-americans since
