argument essay
A mixture of both certainty and doubt is a positive thing in people's lives. Having a bitof doubt kepps people humble and grounded, yet interferes with the idea of achieving things out of ones comfort zone. a sence of certainty not only brings self confidence and courage into someone; without certainty in yourself you would get nowhere in life.

Although being humble and staying grounded is a postive thing, and it is a sure thing that no one likes an extremely coky person. Yet having doubt about oneself will be wn interference. People will continue to doubt themselves and become self caution and will prevent them from attempting to get out of their confomt zone, which will restrain them from success.

During a class project in my sophomore year, me and a group of classmates had to persuade people to agree on our ideas, and we had a variety of choices on ways to persuade our classmates. yet I believe my group were the most confident in ourselves, which was the reason we won and persuaded the most. I believe the reason we were the most persuasive was because we had certainty in our choice which showed our confidence that led to a influence on everyone else.

When you aren't certain about something, you would probably never attempt in trying it. Unlike the terriost who were extremely certain they would achieve their goal on 9/11, when thry aimed their attack on the world Trade Center in New York City. If the terriost were certain they would cause a lot of damage to us Americans they certainly would have never attempted the attack.

Having certainty will aid you to achieve the strength you need to do something. In order to achieve what is needed, yiu have to be certain on the choices you make. When people make the choice of leaving their homeland, bound to go to a different country in search of a better life, it is for nessaciaty and they are certain they will find a better place to go, which is the only reason they took the risk in leaving.

The first reason everyone needs self confidence is because self confidence helps us succeed or acquire even further progress than when we failed. Without self confidence it’s very difficult to succeed in life, mainly because if you fail the first time, which happens a lot, than you will not want to try again, and if you don’t try again after failing than it is impossible to succeed.…

On one hand, certainty keeps people rational when they are amidst a crisis and need solve an issue. There is not mass panic or anxiety and they deal with the issue quickly and effectively. However, not all problems and issues can be dealt with algorithmically. When it comes to emotional crisis the calmness of a person often irritates people and seems like they are indifferent and not empathetic. Also, although some people are tranquil and serene on the apparent surface, but in reality they are panicking inside. On the other hand, there are people who are emotional, but they can deal with emotional crises better and they are easy to read and are not superficial. This creates a more honest image of a person and can be considered as more real and genuine. It also presents the idea of the haziness between how rationality is accepted in society and emotionality is deemed as…

    Certainty vs. Doubt

I believe the dispute between the two virtues, certainty and doubt, is very controversial. Despite the clear sides that people have fixed themselves to, there are pros and cons to both. A person’s doubt can cloud their judgment. Yet it can also aid them in making the better decision, by questioning and eliminating the inferior options. On the other hand, a person’s certainty can blind them from seeing the truth. Regardless of these cons, both are necessary in the everyday choices of life. Isaiah Stock, an APLAC student at University of North Carolina, said, “Think of certainty and doubt as parts of an automobile. Certainty is considered to be the accelerator, while doubt is the steering wheel. You can get nowhere without driving --certainty—but without steering through the impediments in your way, you will surely crash and burn.” I consider this to be a very acceptable metaphor of the balanced relationship between certainty and doubt. An excess of either, on the other hand, is detrimental to one’s wellbeing. I t is necessary to balance certainty and doubt in order to accomplish all of one’s life goals. But I believe that, because doubt is so highly misconstrued, doubt is more necessary in the process of making decisions.…

Marijuana, an herb with over two hundred common names including weed, pot, and bud, is a mixture of green and brown dried shredded leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. Marijuana may be used for recreational and medical use as a psychoactive substance. It contains a chemical called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). When marijuana smoke is inhaled, THC passes through the lungs, bloodstream, and other organs in the body, including the brain. Marijuana has many benefits that general Americans are unaware of, and with this in mind, marijuana should be legalized. There are several reasons for this. First marijuana should be legal due to its helpfulness in treating cancer patients and chronic diseases. Secondly, there is no reason why alcohol and cigarettes should be legal and marijuana should not be. Finally, marijuana does not cause physical addiction.…

    Certainty & Doubt

Phelps’ view that “certainty” enables one to “accomplish virtually anything” seems in conflict with Russell’s belief that opinions should be measured with “some sense of doubt”. Upon closer examination what is best when making life decisions is a matter of perspective. When weighing certainty versus doubt in the construct of important choices, it is irrefutable that they are different sides of the same coin; without one there cannot be the other. Absolute certainty comes from successful experiences, and doubts are the aftermath of mistakes. Phelps and Russell are both right. No person is correct about everything regardless of their past and, in the event they are wrong, every person benefits from the opportunity to learn from it. Therefore, juxtaposing certainty and doubt is akin to separating joy and sorrow. To the thoughtful soul, they are inextricably connected.…

William Lyon Phelps and Bertrant Russel have conflicting views regarding the importance of certainty and doubt. Phelps position is that having certainty in oneself allows you to accomplish impossible tasks. While Russel believes it is healthy to have a certain amount of doubt in oneself and that people should not only believe in any one philosophy. Both Russel and Phelps make good points on the relationship between doubt and certainty but a combination of the two would be the most helpful. You should always have certainty when it comes to your own capabilities, but doubt is useful when forming your own beliefs and when it comes to others beliefs.…

Because doubt often takes over in our minds, therefore it can stop us from accomplishing tasks that we are certain we can do, since certainty comes through our minds and easily exits leaving us in doubt about what could have been. On the other hand, certainty gives confidence to people who become so overwhelmed with doubt. Certainty is what allows us to have more confidence to accomplish anything that other people may believe is the impossible. More than likely there have been many cases in history, politics, sports, and entertainment that have caused people to show either doubt or certainty.…
