Certainty and Doubt
Because doubt often takes over in our minds, therefore it can stop us from accomplishing tasks that we are certain we can do, since certainty comes through our minds and easily exits leaving us in doubt about what could have been. On the other hand, certainty gives confidence to people who become so overwhelmed with doubt. Certainty is what allows us to have more confidence to accomplish anything that other people may believe is the impossible. More than likely there have been many cases in history, politics, sports, and entertainment that have caused people to show either doubt or certainty. In history, the great Galileo was a great scientist and astronomer who was critized by the Roman Inquisition for his amazing works and discoveries. At some point during his studies he may have fallen short and began to doubt his findings, but it was the extensive amount of sureness that kept him going and lead him to success. The work Galileo mastered surely was not easy but with enough assurance he did what others thought was impractical. Politically, President Barack Obama has accomplished what some 50 years ago may have not believed would happen. He became the country’s first African American president and earned a second term in office. Its understandable that while running he may have thought to himself, “Can this really happen? Is it possible that I can win?” That uncertainty obviously had no place in President Obama’s mind. With enough hope, confidence, and positivity he accomplished the unthinkable. No doubt, Jacky Robinson was the greatest baseball player of the modern era. He became the first black Major League Baseball player. He broke the baseball color barrier when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Once again, that percentage of doubt kicked into his mind, making him believe that this chance would never come. But it was that doubt that drove him to succeed and gave him that assurance of how great he was as a baseball player. He went on to be one
