Are We Protest The National Anthem Not Disrespectful?
There is an uncontrollable situation going on in today’s society on protesting the national anthem. Protesters believe that not standing for the national anthem is not being disrespectful. Others believe they are being disrespectful and therefore they are wrong. Protesting the national anthem is not disrespectful because of inequality of race, simple rights, and citizen freedom. Many protesters are not disrespecting the flag or the national anthem; they are simply protesting for equality between both races. Most African Americans are protesting the national anthem to show the unequal balance between both races. Another reason for protesting the national anthem is the basis on which this country was built on and that’s freedom of speech/ protest. Protesters are expressing their freedom in protesting to hope for change in the United States. They are expressing their freedom of speech by being protected under the First Amendment. For the first amendment, citizens have the freedom to protest peacefully against the national anthem, which is not disrespectful because they are protected by law.
