Are Leaders Born or Made?
People have debated whether leaders are born or made for centuries. However, I am absolutely convinced that good leaders are made than born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. “Good leaders can develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training and experience” (Jago, 1982). To inspire workers into higher levels of teamwork, there are certain things a leader must be, know, and, do. These do not come naturally, but are acquired through continual work and study. Good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their leadership skills; they are NOT resting on their laurels.
Definition of Leadership
Before we get started, let’s define and understand about leadership. Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent. Leaders carry out this process by applying their leadership attributes, such as beliefs, values, ethics, character, knowledge, and skills. In the field of organizational learning, leadership entered the discussion as a proxy for the organization. Initial concepts of leadership in organizational learning were based on the notion of the dominant coalition. Organizational learning theorists had suggested that the senior management team, or dominant coalition, was in fact the organization level of organizational learning. Moreover, leadership has been described as the “process of social influence in which one person enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task. According to Ken “SKC” Ogbonnia, “effective leadership is the ability to successfully integrate and maximize available resources within the internal and external environment for the attainment of organizational or society goal.
Charismatic
Leaders are made but not born. However, there are many well-educated and motivated people who lack of the knowledge to lead others. So they don’t

Some people are naturally born as leaders whereas others take a long and treacherous journey through life and become a star leader. I certainly wasn’t born into this world as a leader and nor do I consider myself a picture perfect leader at this point by any means. I believe that there is such a thing as natural born leaders that are innately gifted with the knack of leading others but most have to work extremely hard at it. Whether you’re born a leader or not, everyone can benefit from training and from consciously working to improve their effectiveness. Leadership skills can also diminish over time, as well. It requires constant effort to maintain proficiency, especially if you go long periods without leading anyone. Leadership improvement is a continuous process and the best leaders take an active role in developing it within themselves and…

There are many different opinions on how a person becomes a great leader. One view is that leaders are born. They are gifted with the ability to be natural role-models and have the capability to cause others to want to follow them. Another view is that there is no way a person is just born with leadership ability. Instead, people learn from others and develop leadership abilities through trial and error. The most sensible view, however, is leaders are a combination of the two, they are both born with a leadership mentality and have also learned, from other great leaders, skills which they use to become a great leader. In addition, great leaders must have the desire to want to leader others. It is not reasonable to believe that a great leader can not have both some innate abilities as well as some sound training in leadership.…

The age-old question continues to raise its ugly head: Are leaders born to lead, or are they made? Does Leadership DNA exist? We often point to one person or the other and say, “Now, he’s a leader,” without giving a lot of thought to how this person became a leader in the first place. Sometimes it is easy to simply conclude that some of us have the leadership gene and some of us do not. Those who do get to lead, while those who do not are forever assigned to the sidelines while leaders have all the fun, make all the decisions, and cover themselves in glory. This comes as rather unsettling news for those of us who fear we may get the opportunity to lead. What hope do we have that we can ever aspire to lead people, teams, companies, organizations, even our children?…

There are three main elements to being a charismatic leader. The first element is crisis situations. According to Amy Toburin, “Charismatic leadership usually emerges in a crisis situation, because in a crisis people are more likely to look toward a person who appears capable of bringing them through” (2004). One prime example of a charismatic leader that emerged from a crisis situation is former New York Mayor, Rudy Giuliani. A professor of psychology, by the name of Friedman, describes personal charisma as “a certain appeal, allure, or presence. When charismatic people enter a room, they draw attention and may enliven the whole gathering” (2004).…

I believe that we are born with the traits to become great leaders. Leadership can come in different forms and from all backgrounds. Having all the right conditions in place will not guarantee leadership. I have come across leaders with all the right conditions who failed by performance when given the opportunity. I have also come across the uneducated with no support system who becomes business owners and community leaders. First, leadership is a group phenomenon; there can be no leaders without followers. Leadership always involves interpersonal influence or persuasion. Second,…

Are leaders born or made? What traits do effective leaders need to possess? I’ve asked myself these questions since becoming a leader. The search for the answers only grew as I became older and placed in roles of greater responsibility. I have used my experiences to shape my own philosophy about leadership. My current leadership philosophy is that in order to be a good and effective leader, you must possess certain traits, some of which you are born with, while some you are not. Certain lucky people are natural leaders, born with the ability to take charge of a group of people and lead them in any situation, while others need to be groomed and taught over time how to be a leader. I consider myself to be a mix of the two.…

Leaders are individuals who impact other people and show them the way ahead, all leaders have particular features which illustrate the power factors in a person and make other individuals adhere to their direction. Leaders have the ability to turn a company from making large losses to making large profits. It is not rocket science and it does not require an extreme individual to do this, all it needs is the right mind-set and the perfect social abilities in an individual to touch and impact other people (Ronald, E R 2011). All organizations are made up of people and not devices so to impact a person you do not have to be a machine, you have to have people who can earn respect and impact other individuals by showing himself at the front side of others and getting power by performance. Are leaders born or made? The research on this particular question has been done and it seems to be that ‘48% of the variance in transactional leadership may be explained by additive…
