Ap Reflection
AP, quite possibly the best program for me. Not everyone can take 4 years of school in 3 but I believe that I’m a great fit for AP. For starters, AP is all about taking the initiative and learning on your own. I am already doing that, whether it be reading ahead on what I’m learning in class or doing extra on assignments to secure a 4+. I enjoy learning, it’s fun, my parents and teachers don’t have to force me to do it and AP will require lots of self-learning which is already one of my strengths. Secondly, I enjoy challenges, anything that pushes me to my limits and has a lot of pressure is something that I enjoy. Like all of the extra work my IEP provides me with, the Peel Technological Skills Challenge I participated in last year, or the

“I am convinced that imprisonment is a way of pretending to solve the problem of crime. It does nothing for the victims of crime, but perpetuates the idea of retribution, thus maintaining the endless cycle of violence in our culture. It is a cruel and useless substitute for the elimination of those conditions--poverty, unemployment, homelessness, desperation, racism, and greed--which are at the root of most punished crime. The crimes of the rich and powerful go mostly unpunished.” (Howard Zinn) This quote simplifies my evolved awareness of the issue concerning crime and the criminal justice system has grown. Beginning this unit I had a basic…

This essay will reflect upon an incident in practice when I administered a drug to a child. I will use Gibbs reflective model (Gibbs 1988)(see appendix 1). This model of reflection will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought and relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion on the incident will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the administration of the drug. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my knowledge and competence of the incidence being reflected upon.…

I am proud to be to selected for consideration for the APS program at Argonne in association with our high school. The APS at the Argonne National Laboratory is one of the most diverse and industrious scientific instruments available for civilian use, ranging from simple industrial analysis of synthetic to organic compounds, to a general ecological and biological application use, mapping out protein structures and hormone receptors. Such a diverse scientific instrument in my opinion is utterly useless unless a diverse group of people, with different backgrounds and perspective are allowed input into what is tested and how it is tested. Once again, I am honored for my recognition of scientific ability which allowed me to be selected for consideration in the first place, and I would like to give an example of how my perspective can be used to further research at this program. For…

Taking three AP courses in my junior year was the best, most challenging decision I have had to make in my academic career so far. Being passionate about an advanced education, it was an easy commitment for me to make, however the workload that came along with each AP class had me stretched thin. I am extremely appreciative to the AP Readiness Program that was offered at UCLA for providing me with the resources to succeed in each of my classes.…

This week I did not go into the office because I was out of the state. I had informed Joan that I would be out on the 17th and 18th. I had emailed Joan the dates a week before I left as a gentle reminder. I plan to make these hours up by going in on Tuesdays and Mondays whenever I can. Because I was not in the office, I worked from home. I spent the week calling the 3rd precinct to get a hold of the arresting officers on my cases. I left voicemails and messages, but I never got a call back. I reread my cases and read my new cases as well. I called some LP officers, who not in the days I called. I also organized my VDF’s.…

Reflection allows an individual to identify the reasons or purpose of understanding the outcome of a particular situation in depth in term of emotions on thought and feeling on the topic area. In addition, Reflection is something that we do implicitly as part of being human, underpinning our identities through a process of negotiation between our sense of self and our experiences of others (Demetriou, 2000, p.210). Therefore, I have implemented this quote in my professional and personal goals I wanted and have achieved thought-out the process of the module. I have made continues effort in building my confidence in situations that I have felt uncomfortable in.…

The simulation was a good exercise to practice team work in something more concrete than courses. It was very interesting to work as a team with people I did not know. The interactions were good, there was a good atmosphere and everybody was integrated. This experience allows me to feel good in a team; I know which place I can have. I think I can lead a group and I also can listen to the other. The simulation was also a good experience because we needed to think as real manager with results on the short and the long term. It was a little stressful but I felt above all exciting and involved in the simulation.…

As the first AP course I ever took and having a rigorous curriculum, Advanced Placement United States History was the most challenging class I have taken in high school. APUSH pushed me to strengthen essential skills for an educated person to have such as critical reading, writing, and analytical thinking. Although my final grade for this class was a B, I do not regret taking this informative, challenging class, for I know that it will and has academically helped me. Furthermore, Honors Civics and Government was another enjoyable and thought provoking class I took junior year. The classroom’s atmosphere is describable in one word: open. Debate, little personal filters, and lots of class discussion engaged me to hear different people’s opinions…
