Animal Testing: The Effectiveness Of Animal Experiments
In addition to the brutal tortures that happens in laboratories, genetic manipulation is a common kind of experimentation on primates, cats, dogs, mice, rats, and many other creatures. Due to the abnormalities and diseases, many of these animals are unable to live on. As for animals’ daily living conditions, they spend their lives in cages, not being able to live freely with choices or communicate. They never get to experience the outdoors of fresh air and sunshine, instead, they are contained within bars and walls. Not only that, their cages are small and crowded, and they live with loud noises and bright lights that are known to cause stress in animals. Days after days in laboratories, they experience ongoing mental and physical suffering from fear, boredom, confinement, and emotional stress. In addition to those sufferings, they live to endure the continuous procedures with fear and agony (“Harm and Suffering”). While it can take animal testings months to get the results, it takes DakDak to test about six products for less than half the cost of animal testing for one product within only a couple of days. These non-animal alternatives are more cost-effective because chemicals tested on animals can take up to “five years per substance and cost millions of dollars, while non-animal alternatives can test hundreds of chemicals in a week for a fraction of the cost” (“Alternatives in testing”).
