Animal Cruelty
Animal Cruelty

Good morning, teachers and fellow students. Imagine if you were beaten for no reason, forces to do something you don’t want to, and left to die. This is how many animals are treated every day. Nobody should do this to other animals, and it must be stopped. People should be kind to animals because they’re sensitive, just like humans. If an animal is abused, it will try to defend itself which can result injuries for both humans and animal. All animals should be treated equally, animal abusers should respect animals instead of abuse them.

Lab testing, caging and animal violence are all examples of the abuse. Animals are abused and mistreated when they are used for research experiments. They are thrown in small cages daily, fed poorly, tortured, and they go through all these events no one would ever want to go through. Chickens for example, are often trapped in such small cages that they can't even stand; they just sit there all day everyday laying eggs for the farmers. When the chickens can't lay any more eggs they are slaughtered and sold as food. Humans can be selfish creatures that lock up helpless animals, kill them and eat them. These scientists treat animals like trash, more and more animals after each one many of them die.

Every year, billions of animals die because of animal testing, abuse and are forced to struggle for survival. Left in unsanitary conditions with no food or water, they have little hope as they live out their days without the compassion they deserve. Some are found and rescued, given the chance to experience how great life and humans can be; others aren't so lucky. It really saddens me to know how cruel the world is and it seems like everything is getting worse as the days go by. To think that anyone could ever have the mentality to harm animals or anything that’s alive and breathing gets me so distraught! I can’t even imagine the hurt and pain these creatures go through.

Jeremy Rifkin 's article, “A Change of Heart About Animals” argues that animals are more like humans than we imagine and as a result should be treated with the care that they deserve. Rifkin develops and supports his argument using facts about the animals and these facts end up touching hearts. In order for Rifkin to get his point across he uses a smart technique by using pathos and plays with the emotions of his audience. Rifkin loves animals and his passion and love evokes emotions that the audience can feel. Animals can feel and have emotions similar to ours. in agreement with Rifkin, I argue that it is wrong and inhumane to kill or abuse animals because they feel, they deserve to have space and should be valued as much as humans are It is wrong no animal should be killed due to abuse or testing, it is wrong and inhumane.…

I am so sick of hearing cases on the news, like "Man from Atlanta is facing penalties in Georgia in which a puppy was cooked in an oven" or "Brothers in Atlanta are being charged for putting a puppy in a gas range and turning the gas on." Animal cruelty is one of the most common types of violence in the United States. It is not as accustomed to hear such heartbreaking cases as these. Some of the most common forms of animal cruelty are: Animal testing and experimentation in laboratories, lack of owners care and attention, and using animals as a way of entertainment. Now, lets take a closer look at these three forms of animal cruelty.…

Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…

“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing”-Albert Einstein. Abuse towards animals occurs when humans cause harm to animals intentionally or unintentionally. Animal Cruelty during the Victorian Era is similar to the present day because people beat animals as punishment. However in the present day more people are hoarding animals as a result of being emotionally troubled rather than having a criminal motive, and people have started to stand up against abusive behavior towards animals.…

Don’t we all love our cats and dogs, our beloved pets? We would all be bought to tears if anything were to happen to them. Why is it not the same for all other animals? The cruel treatment of animals needs to stop. As a leading researcher in the Animal Cruelty Australia Program, I have seen the horrific treatment of animals first hand. This conference on the unfair treatment of animals aims to change the way people think about cruelty to animals and what Australia needs to do to stop it. Animals used for food production, animal testing and entertainment are all suffering. Animals are not mankind’s property, we must look after them by treating them as equals and we must stop animal cruelty.…

As an animal activist, whenever I watch videos on animal torture in factories and research testings, it completely breaks my heart knowing that people are unaware or are just not educated enough to comprehend other potential tactics that are just as effective. That is why it’s important to understand these processes and outcomes; to know the results, and know how to not contribute to them. Hopefully, today I have left you all with an insight of how harming animals will not benefit…

Animals should be treated with respect and dignity, and this right to decent treatment is not upheld when animals are exploited for selfish human gain.…

Imagine a dark place lined with cold metal cages, almost like a jail cell. Shivering animals in those crates wait in fear, hunger, and pain for their next operation. They have no way to escape. This is their lives- every day they wait in agony only to be taken into labs to be poked, prodded, stabbed, hit, and grabbed. Living in the conditions that they do: compact cages with limited amounts of food and water- the animals develop mental disorders. These animals didn’t ask for this. These animals just want to be loved. These animals don’t have a choice. An intimidating figure dressed in a long white coat emerges from the dark, the sound of their footsteps echoing off of the bare walls. Instantly, the animals jump at the sound. They know the torture that they must soon endure. A crate door squeaks open and an animal is grabbed violently by the hands, the human having no concern for how the animal feels. The animal resists, struggling to loosen the grip and run away. However, there is nowhere to run. The animal is taken to a lab, knowingly waiting for the abuse he must endure. The rest of the animals know that they are safe; for now. This may seem deranged and inhumane. But this is a reality of so many animals used for testing and research.…

This means that animals are not being cared for correctly in some situations during testing. In New Iberia animal cruelty cases were found by the AWA(US Food and Drug Administration). For example, the Humane Society of the United States found 338 possible violations of the Animal Welfare Act at the Federally funded New Iberia Research Center in Louisiana. Louisiana had acted out too many times against the AWA and was fortunately caught doing so. There have been such mind blowing acts against these innocent animals. Some primates that were held in NIRC suffered from such severe psychological stress that they were, “tearing gaping wounds into their arms and legs.” Video shows chimps screaming as they were being forcibly removed from their mothers, and being shot with a dart gun.(Humane Society of the United States) These actions are beyond cruel. To continue this, more evidence has been found in a science center in Louisiana. In 2011 a sight found at the Davis Center for Neuroscience was horrific. “Three baby mice were found sealed alive in a plastic baggie and left unattended [on a laboratory counter,]” says Sacramento Bee(Marjie Lundstrom). The three baby mice were just left to die in such a horrible way after testing. On the other hand, people might suggest that in order for products to be sold in China, the scientists must test these products to ensure the safety of them. However, the amount…

To test cosmetics, cleaners and other products, hundreds of thousands of animals are poisoned, blinded and killed every year. In circuses, animals are being tortured cruelly. This has been an argumentative issue for a long time. Some argue testing on some animals now will prevent lots of human suffering and save lives in the future. Others say it is unethical and cruel. Still, everyone agrees that millions of animals are subjected to unbearable pain in labs. Also most of people agree with animals tortured cruelly in circuses, they take it as an entertainment for themselves. And that thousands of them die. Before 1986, only four states had felony animal cruelty laws.…

As I look at today’s society, there is one problem imp articular that stands out to me. It affects my family’s farming operation, and it affects everyone in some way whether it is from watching it on the news from time to time, or having dealt with some form of it in your past. The topic I would like to propose is animal cruelty. I want to explore this topic because of the so many different points of view that our society has upon it. It may not directly affect everyone in our class, but I guarantee every single person will have an opinion on what defines animal cruelty. Does everyone oppose it? Are all animals that don’t live in your house being abused? Is keeping livestock in barns animal cruelty? If your pet does something bad and you beat it, is that animal cruelty? If you leave your dog in the car in 100 degree weather for a prolonged period of time, is that cruelty? There are so many different opinions on these questions, and I look forward to getting the chance to be able to examine the topic closely in…

I strongly believe that there are several types of animal cruelty that many people disregard. When you think of animal abuse you probably just think violence being inflicted on an animal, or leaving it out in the cold, but those are just some forms of animal abuse. People are making animal’s fight each other until one of them has died while suffering an unbearably painful death, just for their entertainment. Animals are being slaughtered in the most painful ways so that people can enjoy a nice delicious meal. Animals don’t exist to be eaten; they exist for having a life just as us human beings. Each year, thousands of young and healthy Greyhounds are killed because they lack racing potential or have been injured while racing and are no longer competitive. This means that they are being killed, simply for lacking the fitness level. Statistics show, that 12,569 animals are being cruelly treated every day in Australia alone. 65% of those numbers are dogs. Imagine your dog, who is…

There are extreme cases of animal abuse every day. In England, on three different occasions, cats were cooked in microwave ovens. One of these incidents was in 2010, when a cat named Roxy was put in a microwave oven for 10 seconds, and then shoved into a laundry dryer, yanked out of it, and dunked into a bowl of water. The whole incident was filmed by two teenage boys and a middle aged man, who were sentenced for animal cruelty. Luckily, the cat survived. In 2008, a man had a falling out with a dog owner, and decided to torture the dog as an act of revenge. He and his friend took the dog to a park and recorded themselves slashing him with a knife and garden shears, amputating two of his legs, severing his nose, and then decapitating him. Reports say they laughed the whole time (Goad, Jim). Lastly, there have been videos circulating the internet showing dogs walking on their hind legs. While many people find this cute, no one knows the true story behind it. These dogs are tortured and beat up to be trained not stand on their hind legs. The videos showing them being beat up by their owners are still on the internet, but many don’t want to hear that side of the story. These incidents happen very often, but not much is done about it; people do not get more than a few months of jail time for torturing animals. Most of the time, they just get psychiatric…
