Analysis Of Yertle The Turtle
When you look at most poems you look for artistic sounding, deep feeling poetry. Dr. Seuss’ poems have usually been fun, quirky, and symbolic, but the symbolic part only is seen by some people’s eyes. To me Yertle the Turtle is about a tyrant's reign over a happy and peaceful area. This book as published in 1958, thirteen years after World War Ⅱ. I think the tyrant in the story was symbolic and Yertle was actually Hitler. In stanzas one and nine Yertle commands for turtle the stack up on top of each other in order the make his throne taller. The turtles he is sitting on could represent all of the countries that he concurred overtime. Or, in a more dark manner, the turtles could be the bodies of the dead that Hitler accumulated over the span
