Analysis Of Ted Talk
Although I cannot relate to the prejudice of culture differences as expressed in this Ted Talk I understand what she’s saying. I feel as though in the beginning of the video her main point is that when meeting someone who shares opinions, experiences or cultures with you it is easier for you to communicate with them because of your similarities. I can relate to this with my friends and experiences we all went through such as bullying, abusive relationships, and the many years we spent together creating our own way of communicating, a form of communication many outside our circle would not understand because of the many hand movements and shortened sentences. We can all relate to the situation where she unknowingly offended one of her graduate students through using the term “mongol.” I have definitely; more than once, said something so naturally without any thought and offended someone that I hold close.

That the people who are racist are most of the time not monsters and don’t mean to hurt people or be rude they simply don’t think what they are saying is wrong or didn’t think what they said all the way through. I think racism is a horrible thing; a thing that should honestly not exist, but because of poor education and misguidance and the spread of hateful thoughts it does. But that doesn’t mean that everyone who is racist is a bad person, but rather uneducated or a victim of circumstance;a victim of the negative thoughts which surround them depending on where they live or who raised them etc. People “make mistakes that are sometimes more reflective of this upbringing than what I actually believe…” this is not an excuse to be racist though, you should still take responsibility for the horrible things you are saying and seek guidance to enlighten yourself on the issues that affect our society and the many prejudices we face as a whole and decide not to be a part of the
