Analysis Of Ferris Bueller's Day Off
I am Janelle Bautista, a college freshman, and I do not know what I am doing right now. Each year, my English teachers would give various essays, and every time the whole class had no clue what to write. Everyone would all stare at the computer screen blankly, and ponder as to where to start. However, once an idea sparks, the first sentence turns into a paragraph then it finally becomes pages long. Everyone can stare at the screen forever, but the essay will not be done unless you start writing, just like college, and life. However, life will continue whether the first step is taken or not. College and life are a long essays waiting to be written. Although college benefits those who obtain a degree, the only question that remains is what to …show more content…
Although, life is never like the movies, movies are more than pure entertainment, some movies also teach life lessons. As an example, in 1986, John Hughes wrote and directed Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, it was about Ferris Bueller and his friends who decided to follow Ferris’s plan to skips school in order to have an adventure around the the city of Chicago. I have seen Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, several times since I was little; however, I have always disliked the movie. However, I recently watched it again and I now have the ability to fully understand the concepts in the movie. An essential quote that hangs over my head is when Ferris Bueller says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it,” and Ferris is right because life is not going to stop and with life constantly moving it is impossible to catch everything; however, if students only focus on establishing a future, they are missing on the presents. Just like me, throughout school I have only focused on school; I spent most of my time studying. However, I began to realize that life is more than just studying for school in order to have a career. College grants independence. Independence is an immense amount of responsibility. I am free from watchful eyes, and I can do whatever I want without being criticized by my parents. Chaos is uncontrollable and unavoidable; however, I will develop skills in college to be able to handle the chao professionally. Academically, college will diversify my choices in careers because UNLV has a wide variety of courses. In addition to people, movies will also advise me in my path for the future.     I now feel, after being a student of this class, being successful in business or school requires the ability to organize, arrange, and compose thoughts into a logical format. Without these skills it is impossible to communicate thoughts and emotions grammatically.     Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I trudge up two flights of stairs with the wind whipping at my face as my fingers feverishly click out the final text message I need to send before class starts.     The beginning of high school I was a seed in English class. I was not particularly good at English and had doubts on whether I should ask the teacher to move me down to the college prep class. Just like a seed, I was a plain little student sitting in an honors class. Maybe from last year’s English class, I was fully aware my writing was not anything special. That was what I thought because I compared myself to my friends, but for sure, one thing I was positive was that writing was my strength in English rather than vocabulary and reading comprehension.
