1. INTRODUCTION
People are one of the important elements of organizations. To remain in the competition or to expand businesses, companies need to hire efficient individuals who can lead the company to achieve its goals.
Locating and attracting well–qualified individuals to fill job vacancies is really a challenging task for the organization. From skilled tool-makers to senior executives, the demand for qualified human power is increasing day by day. An organization cannot survive without the human resources to keep it alive, vigorous and growing.
Recruitment is the process by which organizations locate and attract individuals who are capable of and interested in filling available job vacancies. And selection is the process of choosing the individual who can successfully perform the job from the pool of qualified candidates. Together, recruitment and selection play a fundamental and crucial role in the functioning and development of the organization.

1.1 Origin of the Study
This study is originated as a partial requirement of the Human Resources Management course of MBA program of Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. The Study “An evaluation of recruitment and selection process of MGH Group” is submitted to Ms. Sutapa Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor, Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.
1.2 Objectives of the Study
The prime objective of the study is to evaluate the recruitment and selection process of MGH Group, one of the leading conglomerates in Bangladesh.
To facilitate achieving the prime objective, this study aims at attaining the following specific operational objectives – ❖ To explore the recruitment goals and philosophy of the organization. ❖ To identify the sources of recruitment of the organization. ❖ To go through the employee selection process of the organization. ❖ To identify what attributes in the applicant are examined. ❖ To

    This chapter is the overview of this research literature. It explains the concept of recruitment and selection as perceived by various writers.
