An Essay About Mount Lemmon
Mount Lemmon: The Best Place to Have Fun Summer or Winter When we first arrived in Tucson in June 2016, there was so many places to go and explore. Then there was Mount Lemmon, which was close to our house. We drove up the Catalina Highway, through the vast fields of Saguaro cactus and wooded areas of pine trees, to the peak. When we got there, there was so much stuff to explore that we didn’t have time to do it all in one day. Mount Lemmon is the crowned jewel of Tucson that everyone should go visit. The number one reason why everyone should visit Mount Lemmon is because of the vast amount of hiking trails, especially at the summit. There are several hiking trails up there including the Marshall Gulch Trail and the Mount Lemmon trailhead. If you love a good hike that is increasing with challenge, the Marshall Gulch Trail, with it’s rocky and narrow path, will reward you with the beautiful trees and wildlife. The trail is also plentiful of wildflowers during the springtime, and is great spot to find birds. This trail is a loop trail on …show more content…
This 9.8 mile out and back trail has very steep parts, is a heavily wooded area and it’s recommended that you hydrate yourself the night before you go on this trail. It’s also a good spot for birding and has a great view of the wooded landscape. If you’re up to a difficult trail, then this one is for you. Another good reason to visit Mount Lemmon is the snow related activities available during the winter. That’s right, it snows in Mount Lemmon. It snows up to a 180 inches on the peak and the peaks surrounding it. If you’re new to skiing, than they have a beginner’s route for those new to skiing; the ski routes go from easy to expert, which is good news for those who are experts at skiing and good news for beginners. Secor Park Has eight different trails that run through and around forests, lakes and prairies. People label each trail with a color. The all purpose trail (labeled with brown) is the main trail that I walk on. All around the brown trail runs skyscraper trees with their little leaves that dance above. I could never grow sick of this trail because I always noticed something new. This only makes me more excited to walk on the other 7 trails 100s of times. The Secor forest Edge Trail (labeled with green) runs around the forest. The forest looks like a beautiful painting with little blots of green, orange, gold, and red dots that cover the canvas. The blue trail runs around a small pond. The pond is filled green moss and dangling tree branches like long earrings.…

Many of these trails cannot be traveled to without the means of an off road machine or a serious hike on foot. One of my favorite places to ride is between Francis Peak and Bountiful Peak. There is a trail there that my friends and I always ride. The trail is called Buckland flats. This is not an easy ride, but once we’ve reached the top the views are extraordinary. We can see the entire valley to the west as well as everything to the east, but this isn’t the only exciting part of riding. The wildlife that we can see is amazing as well.…
