Toddlers require constant supervision to ensure complete safety.

To maintain a healthy environment, as with all ages, I make sure the area is sanitized daily. I assist them with washing their hands before and after each meal, after playing outside and after using the bathroom. I also make sure they have healthy foods, drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Toddlers have a very short attention span, so they need to have numerous activities available to them. They learn by example, so I talk to them using please and thank you. Playing games is crucial for the development of coordination, balance and gross motor skills. I do this on a daily basis. We sing songs, read books and talk about shapes, colors, numbers and letters.

One of my goals is to promote healthy habits. To establish and maintain a healthy environment is to prevent the spread of germs and promote healthy eating habits. Germs can be easily spread among the age group of children in my care, because they are in close contact with each other. One of the ways I promote a healthy environment is hand washing. I wash my hands and wear gloves before and after handling food, helping with toileting, changing diapers and cleaning noses. I have the children wash their hands during similar times and ensure that they do it properly. Cleaning and sanitizing play areas daily and mouthed toys are immediately removed from the play area and sanitized at the end of the day. I teach the children about healthy eating on a daily basis. At lunch and snack time we talk about the healthy foods and not so healthy foods that they are eating and what food is best for their growing bodies. I have two weeks of lesson…

This happens due to my offering activities that will allow the children to use their small and large muscles. Children need these types of activities so they can become familiar with how to use these muscles and to develop their overall body conditioning and strength. Activities like throwing/rolling balls, moving arms up and down and even "simon says" will help children gain upper body strength. Activities such as jumping, running and balancing themselves will help them gain strength in the lower parts of their bodies. These activities allow them to work with their gross motor skills.
