Alfred Dow Short Story
Once there was a boy named Alfred Dow. He is tall, strong, happy go lucky, stripling, is a hard worker, and the women never say he was listless. He loves to make things with his hands, and hates to be inside. He lived on a farm with his family, and when they play there is no way they can’t be gambol. The farm was a sojourn for the summer and fall. Most of his family is itinerant among farms. The family farms where sequestered from each other by about 1 mile. He will never forget the fall of 1972. On October 15, 1972 he was plowing the fields when all of the sudden he sees a woman standing in the field. He put the reins down so he could talk to her. When he looked up, she was gone. He went to his brother Leonard and told him what he saw, and Leonard told him that the sun must be getting to him so Leonard took him inside and told him to take a break.

Leonard says, “START SEARCHING THE AREA!!!” Everyone rushes to search the house. They then gather in the house without a clue of what happened to Alfred. So they start to search the farm, and all they come up with is a set of footprints that belong to Alfred. Leonard takes Gordy, and Howard to follow the footprints and tells the rest to stay and see if he returns before they get back. As they follow the trail, they see signs that say turn back and go away. They still kept following it until they reach the cave. They get out of the truck and walk in with a flashlight. They finally reach Alfred and see him chained up. Leonard heads back to the truck to get an ax from the back of the truck. He finally gets back to them and cuts Alfred down. He turns and sees the witch. She swings at him with a big rock. He dodges and hits her in the head with the ax and kills her. They leave the cave with Alfred and go back to the farm. Alfred tells the whole story. They swear to never speak of what happened
