I love both of my parents to death and still do but when i went to court and they gave my mother custtody of us I cried till i could not cry no more. It was a lot of thoughts going through my head at once but i do remeber few of them thoughts like moving to Alabama and makimng new friends, If my mother and daddy will ever get back together and how long will this last. I already knew that if my mother have full custody of us that we will be living in Alabama our whole life. I thought Alabama was a country state and full of farms, i would have never thought that Alabama has what it has. like:malls, movie theater, and places to shop. my family mostly live in pedimont al. But I guess my dad found out my mother wasn’t the same either because my parents decided to get a divorce. I’m not sure exactly when but I slowly started to develop depression, I couldn’t take it anymore. I quit my job, school was a far off thought, I just gave up. I regret how much I let it take over my life because now it’s hurting me more than I would have ever thought, my future. I now know no matter what, I have to keep pushing my limits instead of letting them push me. I am determined to make necessary steps to improve every aspect of my…

I come from a very dysfunctional family; I am the older of the two children that were produced by my parents. I have a younger sister named Nicole Marie Stover. We are the result of my father’s third marriage, the only offspring he is aware of. He has been married seven times to date, the latest one has been the longest lasting, their twentieth anniversary was a few days ago. He made it quite clear when he came in one morning with Carol, my now step-mother of twenty years, that he was going to make this one work no matter what it took. Well this included striking me out of the picture as I was a troubled young lad. But let’s go back to the beginning of my life, the beginning of this story. I was born Sunday November 09 of the year 1980 to George Adam Stover, III and Dawn Marie Stover (Adams) in the wonderful town of Baltimore that’s located in the state of Maryland at Saint Josephs Hospital. My father was a feature photographer for WMAR Channel 2, where I spent a good portion of my time at playing on the editing room floor and…

As an infant, I lived in Grambling, Louisiana, on one forty one Gallot drive. For about the next two years, my parents developed issues with each other. Then, at the age of two years old, my parents divorced. My father got custody of me and continued living in Grambling while my mother moved around the west coast. From age two until about age twelve, I have been traveling back and forth from Grambling to Dallas. It was hard for me to understand why both of my parents aren’t waking me up every morning together, like all my friends at school. As a child I…

Andrew Largeman's (Zack Braff) journey throughout "Garden State" seems to be a testament on the meaning of liberation. Going from his struggling acting life in Los Angeles to his hometown in New Jersey, where he witnesses his mother's funeral, Andrew is in the mist of confronting difficult issues. One of the biggest issues is coming to terms with his psychologist father (Ian Holm), whom he has distanced himself from for many years because he has put him on powerful antidepressants for most of his life. The reason for this I will not reveal but it has caused Andrew to feel as if his father has controlled his life in a way.…

The state of Alabama is the place I call home, but that was not always the case. Being born in Alabama would automatically make this my home: right? At the age of 16—unlike most of the teenagers around—the state of Alabama was not as appealing to as they made it seem. As travel opportunities became prominent; I made ventures to different lands. Travels far and wide were made, but nowhere seemed to draw me in like Alabama. The state is enticing and sometimes I never wanted to give into its charming ways. Stars Fell on Alabama by Carl Carmer shows how captivating the state can be. The legends and folk tales documented by Carmer gave off a special aurora that can still be felt years later.…

    I Am the Cheese Monologue

I am confused. My name is Adam Farmer and also Paul Delmonte. I witnessed my mother and father murdered which truly makes me the cheese. I’m scared every time I think about them. I don’t want to speak about them but I fear I must to conquer the feelings. I knew my mother didn’t have any friends and my father told me that we had no family. My mother spent most of her time in her room and would have a phone call every Thursday evening and it would last a very long time. I didn’t really know my parents very well. They were mysterious to me. It was as if they were hiding myself from me, if that makes any sense. They used to whisper about me in their bedroom, with the door shut. I heard what they were talking about and I realized that they had been lying to me about my identity. My father almost caught me listening in but luckily he didn’t because I panicked and ran away before he could open the door. (1 minute) I was too scared to confront my parents about what I heard them talking about. I thought about telling Amy, my girlfriend, about how weird my parents are but I was scared of what type of opinion she would make of my family. Amy is someone who doesn’t take life too seriously. I think that she is the opposite of me because she isn’t ever afraid and she doesn’t panic, unlike me. I hate people that try to act like they are really tough, luckily they are usually stupid. There were a group of bullies that tried to take my bike and my package away from me. They weren’t clever enough to figure out that I left my bike with the police and they chased me to the police station where I rested for a while because they wouldn’t dare come near me then. Amy’s mother and my mother are also different as my mum stays home all day and her mum spends most of her time outside her house. I am afraid of a thousand things, a million. Like it is to be claustrophobic and yet fear open spaces too. I panic when I try to call Amy from a telephone booth and every time I come across a dog it…

My parents had lived in Illinois their whole life and grew up there so when we moved back to Illinois it was basically saying that we were just going home. My name was chosen by my mom because she said that Danielle was one of her favorite girl names. She also said that one of her good friends name is Danielle and my mom told her that she was gonna name me after her. A couple days after I was born is when the first ever school shooting happened at Columbine High School in 1999 in Colorado. I share a birthday with Kassidy Steffen and Colleen Daniels. The first couple years of my life I honestly do not remember. My mom has told me stories about when I was a baby. When I was little I loved to help out and do whatever my mom was doing. From doing the dishes to making cookies I was there to help out. My mom told me that I was a momma's girl. I always cried when my mom left to go to work. I also had a big imagination and always like to…

In the year of 1881, The Tuskegee Normal School was founded for colored teachers, which provided practical training for African Americans and helped them develop economic self-reliance through the mastery of manual trades and agricultural skills. Tuskegee's mission has always been service to people, not education for its own sake. It was the only historically black college or university to be privately controlled in Tuskegee, Alabama. The university is home to over 3,100 students from the U.S and other foreign countries in the world. The school underwent a series of name changes and was known as the Tuskegee Institute from 1937 to 1985.…

My Dad had absolutely nothing to do with me from birth to when I turned 15 years old. I grew up with my Mom, and my one older sister. My Mom always had a really good friend whom I called my aunt, who helped her out for years and years. I became very close with her, and she would always help pay for expenses and would always come to extracurricular activities. Let’s rewind to my Mom’s life before kids. My mom did not live in a very good situation. Her Mom had 3 different men in her life and 4 kids from 2 different men. My Grandma slept with a guy at a party when she was dating somebody at the time, and got pregnant with my Mom. My Mom never knew her Dad and grew up thinking that her step dad was her actual Dad. When I was 4, my Grandma was dying of lung cancer when she told my Mom about her real Father. I never knew my Grandma, but I wish I had because I think I would be a different person today if I had a relationship with her. My Mom had 3 girls with 2 different men. Her first husband, was a no-good Father who went to prison so they got a divorce. My oldest sister left my Mom to live with her Grandma who bribed her into living with her, and my Mother was too young and dumb to stop it. I was an oopsy. At my Mom’s current job, she met a man who she must have had an affair with, and that is how I got here. I guess at the time my Mom thought she could raise me on her own and did not even try to get my Dad to be in my life. My Mom has had multiple boyfriends and potential husbands walk in and out of her life, but still has no luck with guys, and I keep hoping to myself that if she did, then she would be completely…

Where this story begins, is before I have memory of it. I know the history from my family and as I grew up I seen it for myself. My parents were together and happy until I was almost two years of age. I look back and see pictures of us as a family. I see alot of happiness in them. I don't completely understand what went wrong. But things did change. I stayed with my mom and my sister Adrianne. They tell me that visitations did take place every other weekend and I didn't like being away from my mom. My parents were divorced for almost two years. One day my dad dropped me off at the new apartment my mom and us had moved into. She was hanging pictures, when my dad offered to help. She accepted his help and they said they had a nice evening getting them hung. From what they tell me my dad asked if he could come back in a few days and help with anything else my mom might need. She took him up on it. As the story goes they started sort of dating again. Within four months they decided to give it a try again and try to make it work. My dad moved back in with us at the apartment my mom had just moved into.…

Visiting Rutgers University on November 5th, 2013 was definitely a great experience as well as an eye opener for me. From touring the different campus, getting an inside look in one of the Residence Halls and actually sitting and eating lunch in a setting filled with actual college students, the experience was surreal. Visiting Rutgers motivated me to seek better for myself so that hopefully I can attend there or somewhere like it. With that said, there are many factors that come in to play when considering me being able to go to Rutgers University.…
