8 December 2013 Gay Marriage Last week when I was watching TV, the reporter started to talk about marriage and, its meaning. He then started to talk about the kind of marriage called "gay marriage". He also showed a couple who are in a relationship. What suprised me was that both of them appeared to be the same gender. The couple started to talk about how their life is planned and how their relationship is, such as having kids and living as a normal couple. What they said about their life shocked me as a viewer because marriage is a sacred relationship, and we, as people, are supposed to keep it that way. I am against gay marriage because I respect the tradition of marriage, adopting, and I worry about family dissaproval. First, proponents of gay marriage says that everyone should have the right to get married and live they life the way he wants. This may be right; however, gay marriage in my perspective is not logical. The traditional definition of marriage is a relationship between two people of the opposite sex who decide to live together for the rest of their life through the bad and good. If we look back at history, we had never heard of gay marriage it just started to become recognized in this century. Tradition shouldn't be changed because history is what led to what we call life. History molded the world and what it has become. Although history has been changed, I think that some change is for the best but some change is taking turns to becoming worse. I think that gay marriages is one of those turns. Second, proponents claim that gay couples can contribute to the number of adoptings in the country. Ever since gay marriage has been recognized as a type of marriage, the number of adoptings had increased a lot, which is somewhat a good thing. Same sex partners cannot have a biological child, so in order to start a family, they need to adopt a child. Many adults get confused when it comes to gay marriage, imagine what children go through. Children are confused many times about little things, and they are lost when it comes to marriage. When a child is raised in a gay marriage, the child tends to lack affection towards other people and seem anti-social. Many studies show that they lack of social abbilities due to the way they are raised and how there enviorment is different. They also begin to get confused about relationships because they stay with the same sex parents. A friend of mine told me that she used to have a friend that was involved in gay marriage. They raised a child and she took her child to go play with the couples child. She told me that the child seemed lonley and zoned out. When the couple told him to come and say hi, the child didn't even bother to move. Third, proponent claim that gay marriage is supported by many people, but many parents dissaprove of any gay-like relationship that involves their children. Many parents stick with the classical relationships and marriages, where the opposite spouses love each other. When parents are confronted about their child's gay relationship, they sometimes exclude them from the family get togethers and begin to forget that, that is the child they raised. That makes the gay couple feel excluded from family based things, including the warmth from their very own parents. They would be the third wheel in activites, meaning that they would always be the last person to be brought up in family get together, including thoughts, celebrations, and calls. In this situation, both people have their parts. I think that the parents feel that they didn't raise the child correctly and they might feel betrayed. In conclusion, being someone involved in gay marriage can effect how people think of them and how they treat them self. Parents begin to dissaprove of their relationship and also what they have become as a person. We, as a society, dissaprove of gay marriage because the traditional definition of marriage is completley different from what gay marriage is labled as.
