Standardized testing has been around since the mid-1800s. The purpose of this system is to measure a student’s achievements through high school. This can help a student and schools realize what they are failing in. Also it can show what they are exceeding in as well. There are many reason to consider standardized exams for high school. Key reason include a explanation of why the test is given and beats any other system of grading, the ability to compare between school, and what schools need to focus on. Is providing this test benefited schools districts nationwide? Standardized exams are made to measures a student’s achievement level. Educators what to see if their kids are ready for college. They need to know if their child is at the readiness benchmark. The schools need to know this as well, so they can compare their students score with other to see where they are stack up. For example, a principal at North high school could compare the test scores of his students against those at Wiseman High school, including the district average, the state average, and the country average. Only a standardized test could tell where a school achievement rate is at and where they are in terms of other schools. Schools need to be held accountable for their academic performance. The test can identify the poor-performing schools needing help or simply the high performing schools across the state. The test can be used a key factor in changes in a schools education system. For example, North High school students are all below benchmark level in math according to the SAT they all took in the spring. The school district decides to prevented harder curriculum and stricter teachers to help strengthen that area in the test. This can be a good starting point for any school
