Danitza, thank you for your post his week. I feel that African Americans did not receive a fair shake when the social work program started. There were many things that could and should have been did differently back then to help everyone. However, we the people are not responsible for their decisions and actions then all we can do now is learn from the mistakes and move forward in a positive manner. There is no life better than another one in my opinion. If people would all feel this way things in this world would be a lot better. Everyone needs to stop dividing themselves with race, religion, and gender. We are all human no matter what. Moreover, in the past African Americans were not treated fairly, but I do feel now that everyone in the

The American dream is alive and well and many people of all races have had tremendous success. With these positives in place, it is no wonder why there have been so many incredible achievements by African Americans in the 21st century to include the obvious - the first black president. Over the years there has been much success in trying to dismantle discrimination against different races. By the time the modern civil rights movement arose during the mid-20th…

The experiences of African Americans throughout the history of the United States of America have be intense, tragic and challenging to this racial group. The earliest experiences of African Americans in this country would be as they were bought and brought in as slave labor. These were African natives captured during battle and sold to slave traders from around the world. They were forced in to unsafe shipping holds where many died on the trip over. They were then sold and treated like cattle. African Americans we renamed by their new owners, told what they would do, when they would do it and how they would complete the task. Families were separated, marriages were dissolved and children were taken from their parents. They were forced to breed to make better workers and forced to remain uneducated. When slaves were freed, African Americans found a new set of problems. The only skills they had were what they were forced to do while owned. This meant they were limited to the same work and were paid almost nothing in comparison to members of the majority group performing the…

In the beginning blacks worked as slaves for whites, primarily in the south. The abuse and ridicule they were put through was inhuman and unjust for any human being. Through the years though, a lot has changed for the African-American race. With many standing up for their rights, such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr., African-Americans do have the same rights as whites and other races. Of course they are not the only race that has gone through this but I feel this is one of the most controversy acts in America, then and now.…

In the history of the United States, African Americans have always been discriminated against. When African Americans first came to America, they were taken against their will and forced to work as laborers. They became slaves to the rich, greedy, Americans. They were given no pay and were often beaten. African Americans fought for their freedom, and up until the Civil War it was never given to them. When the Civil War began, African Americans wanted to take part in fighting to free all slaves. Their opportunity to be soldiers and fight along side white men equally did not come easily, but eventually African Americans proved themselves able to fight as true American heroes.…

"For years it was my embarrassing task to sit in on the meetings of whites and blacks, to serve one ridiculous but necessary function: I knew, and every black man there knew, that I, as a man now white once again, could say the things that needed saying but would be rejected if black men said them...for the simple reason that white men could not tolerate hearing them from a black person's mouth" (Griffin 177).…

African Americans have been at a huge disadvantage in America from the beginning. Unlike many other minority groups in America, African Americans in many cases were brought here by force and not by there own will. (000000) The first African Americans came to America in the seventeenth century and were immediately forced to work for Whites. After much turmoil and even a civil war Blacks were finally given there freedom with the Emancipation proclamation signed and ratified in 1863. Even after the proclamation some blacks were still enslaved and freed blacks had little to no opportunity. The struggle continued into the next century as blacks finally received the right to vote with the ratification in of the 15th amendment. The 20th century contained a world filled by a segregated America between whites and blacks through jim crow laws that existed that restricted blacks from interacting with whites. With a history like that it is no wonder that African Americans still have disadvantages in our modern day.…

African Americans are poorly treated, they are stereotyped, and they are also human beings. First of all they were poorly treated because of their color. Many people also treat African Americans poorly because of history. Second of all African Americans are also stereotyped. We as people stereotype everyone and everything, but African Americans get stereotyped a lot. When they are stereotyped they get categorized. For an example, when we see an African American we think that they are bad people; like gang members, hoodlums, and uneducated. That is what people think and that is what they believe, but it not true. That is just stereotyping and it is not right, but on some case stereotyping is a good thing if it is a positive image or thought. African Americans are also human being they breath, eat, sleep, and do all the same thing white people do. So they are no different than I am. The have a lot of similarities and…

In today’s society African Americans still deal with prejudice people. There are many white Americans that mistreat blacks or treat them unequally based on their race. African Americans are still treated poorly in many parts of the world, including the United States. Many African Americans believe they do not receive the same job opportunities, pay rate, or educational opportunities. African Americans seem to think the reason for this unequal treatment is due to the color of their skin. African American women tend to be paid less money than that of a man despite the color of his skin. African American men and women are stereotyped by the color of their skin, where they live, or the jobs they possess, just to name a few.…

Studying African American History shows it is that no one is better than the other person based on skin, culture, past, or which country they came from. African American experiences with cruelty and prejudice were horrible. It is taking time since the Civil Rights act for some white people not to have hateful racial feelings towards the African Americans. Although we continue to face racism and problems in the United States, no one could deny that African Americans have gained a lot in education and political influence with a black man as our president.…
