LUSUS NATURAE
“Fans always call him Glambert because of his sexy eyeliner, goth clothes and the best performances, but American Idol glam-rocker Adam Lambert’s is among most famous among Chinese fans as Glambert.” (Vikzon_XL) The reporter from Singapore Showbiz concludes that. Maybe his destiny is being a freak of nature just like the tattoo on his hand, LUSUS NATURAE, meaning the people not from the same clan. Along the way he has made headlines for his music and his sexuality.
Adam has been showing off his talent since he was 10 years old. In high school, he could portray many different characters in his drama and music classes. After high school, he started to make a living wandering around Hollywood by himself. In 2009, he first shot at fame was as a contestant on the 8th season of the American Idol; and it was just the beginning of his road towards rock stardom. He is one of the most original and controversial players in American Idol’s history because of his gorgeous voice and wide range of stage performances. Simon Cowell, the sharp-tongued judge in American Idol once said, “Nobody can top that now.” (orangefeng)
Adam sang Believe from Cher, a cappella, to gain the support from the judges. Many people believe that they can challenge the classics, but actually only few of them will be successful. Adam did it, the difficulty of Believe is five stars, and it requires a high key when the song is sang, especially the demand of breath for the lyrics, “after love”. Adam is smart, because he has a great deal of self-confidence; he has the ability to perform the hard rock style of Cher perfectly. His unique voice is capable of showing his ability to alter classic songs while keeping the original taste. However, in the countryside theme week, Adam chose the Middle Eastern version of Ring of Fire, it sounded very strange through his version, and was summed up with Simon saying, “It is indulgent rubbish”,
