Act of Being Late
The survey is conducted among 89 active students from various universities . As shown in the graph, 99% out of those 89 students has been late for their class at least 1 time so far. Out of those 89 students, 14% is late almost every time, 17% comes late a few time a week, 36% is sometime late, and 32% is rarely seen late for class. That’s roughly one- third (31%) of students who’s frequently late for classes. The analysis will look at some of the most common reasons and factors for being late by students.
Firstly we’ll take a look at the distance between students home and university and the frequency for being late of the student. Suprisingly, students whose house is less than 5km away from school is more often seen being late than those who live further than 5km away from school. 37% students who live less than 1 km away from school is often late for class, while those number for students whose house is less than 1 km, from 5km-10km, and more than 10km are 28%, 28% and 30% respectively. The distance in between school and home does not contribute much to the frequency in which students are late.
The second factor that the survey consider is the time that classes start. According to the survey, 23% of students who study in 6 to 7am class is late for almost everyday. 14% of students go to class late every day when their class stats from 7-8am and less than 10% of students study in class started from 8-8h30am is late. In conclusion classes that start early are more likely to have students come in late.
Some excuses students make for being late including overslept, laziness, habit, incidents and other. Among those reasons, the most common one is oversleeping, account for over 30% of students. The next one is laziness (22%). Habit accounts for 14%, and incidents and others account for 34%. That means 66% of all excuses for being late remains in student’s own attitude (overslept, laziness, bad habit)

As I read this article, it actually made me laugh because some of the excuses I have used myself. Although it is bad to turn in an assignment late, it is not bad to make an excuse to make up for it. After all, it’s all for our sake. If the instructor let us go with it, then we’re good. But that doesn’t mean we can do it again. In this kind of situations, first is alright, but never expect a second time because any instructors would definitely doubt a second time. This article is an irony because it shows how the excuses made the teachers believe to not believe the students as time…

Students have different goals in school. One of the major goals of students is to develop their skills and competence and to eventually graduate. To achieve this goal, students must meet the requirements given to them by their teachers. With the number of subjects undertaken by the students, submitting the needed requirements is a big challenge to them. "As students, you're always being pushed out of your depths—that's what learning is." says procrastination researcher and Carleton University psychology professor Timothy A. Pychyl, PhD. Due to the stress that students experience, they tend to laze off and delay the submission of the given tasks to them. They are more likely to neglect doing prioritized tasks if there are options available that are immediately pleasurable. These options are temptations that often distract us to what we need to accomplish. A lot of students nowadays are guilty of doing tasks in the last minute even if they were given a long duration of time to finish it. The cause of this is behavior varies. Some find the given task difficult and stressful, some find it boring while some are too pressured on doing the task perfectly that they spend a long period of time finishing their work. Procrastination is normal for everyone, what students and other people should be concerned about is how to lessen it.…

Like most children, I used to think that I had a lot of time on my hands. Nevertheless, as I grew older and entered middle school, I realized how time is extremely limited and must be used wisely. As a result, I have learned how to be punctual, from handing assignments to arriving at a designated location. Punctuality shows an evidence of preparedness which can be applied to many aspects of one’s life. Because a majority of my assignments have an assigned due date, I am strongly encouraged to hand it in before or on the deadline, a point that all teachers emphasize, whether it’s classwork or homework. To ensure that I hand in my best work, I prefer beginning my assignments early in order to have time to revise and improve my work. Arriving on time is important as well. As a student, I am expected of me to arrive at school every day at 8 am sharp in order to receive maximum instructional time. However, I tend to leave my house early to prepare for any mishaps during my journey to the school or any other destination. Aside from school, arriving to work or an important meeting, such as an interview, is important as well. Lateness is generally associated with resistance, lack of respect and consideration, hence why many people regard time as an important component to one’s first impression. If admitted into the program at the GESC, I will try my best to be on time, although the commute time is approximately two hours, because I believe that punctuality is one of the keys to…
